Quran Quote  :

Quran-18:105 Surah Al-kahf English Translation,Transliteration and Tafsir(Tafseer).

Transliteration:( Ulaaa'ikal lazeena kafaroo bi aayaati Rabbihim wa liqaaa'ihee fahabitat a'maaluhum falaa nuqeemu lahum Yawmal Qiyaamati waznaa )

105. These are the people who disbelieved in the signs (229). of their Lord and in his meeting. Therefore all their deeds are in vain (230), and We shall not establish any weight for them on the day of judgement (231).

Surah Al-Kahf Ayat 105 Tafsir (Commentry)

  • Tafseer-e-Naeemi (Ahmad Yaar Khan)
  • Ibn Kathir
  • Ala-Madudi

229. From this we learn that the good deeds of the infidels are a wasted entity, and that infidelity destroys piety. Thus, the slightest insult and disrespect of the Holy Prophet is an act of infidelity, because raising our voice above the voice of the results in Holy Prophet صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم confiscation and forfeiture of all one's good deeds.

Says Allah Almighty: "Lest your good deeds become vain while you are unaware" (S49:V2).

230. This tells us that the good deeds of the infidels are all in vain because that branch which is cut off from the tree cannot become green by just watering it. He, who has cut off the servitude of the prophet, will not be able to benefit from any good deeds. Even the smallest good deed of a believer is useful because it is connected with the tree.

231. Or, it could mean that, the good deeds of the infidels would not be weighed at all. There will be no scale for them at all. Or else, they will be weighed, but will be of no weight. They will appear to be big and weighty but in the scale they will be devalued and without any weight. This tells us that the true weight is given to the good deeds by faith and sincerity. Observe, the Kharijites of Kufa, in appearance were pious worshippers, but in the light of the injunction of the Hadith Shareef, they are out of the fold of Islam.

Ibn-Kathir

The tafsir of Surah Kahf verse 105 by Ibn Kathir is unavailable here.
Please refer to Surah Kahf ayat 103 which provides the complete commentary from verse 103 through 106.

(18:105) Those are the ones who refused to believe in the revelations of their Lord and that they are bound to meet Him. Hence, all their deeds have come to naught, and We shall assign no weight to them on the Day of Resurrection.[77]

Ala-Maududi

(18:105) Those are the ones who refused to believe in the revelations of their Lord and that they are bound to meet Him. Hence, all their deeds have come to naught, and We shall assign no weight to them on the Day of Resurrection.[77]

77. “So worthless will be their deeds” in the sense that they will be of no avail to them in the life after death, even though they might have considered them as their great achievements but the fact is that they will lose all their value as soon as the world shall come to an end. When they will go before their Lord, and all their deeds shall be placed in the scales, they will have no weight at all whether they had built great palaces, established great universities and libraries, set up great factories and laboratories, constructed highways and railways, in short, all their inventions, industries, sciences and arts and other things of which they were very proud in this world, will lose their weights in the scales. The only thing which will have weight there will be that which had been done in accordance with the divine instructions and with the intention to please Allah. It is, therefore, obvious that if all of one’s endeavors were confined to the worldly things and the achievement of worldly desires whose results one would see in this world, one should not reasonably expect to see their results in the Hereafter, for they would have gone waste with the end of this world. It is equally obvious, that only the deeds of the one, who performed them strictly in accordance with His instructions to win His approval with a view to avail of their results in the Hereafter, will find that his deeds had weight in the scales. On the contrary, such a one will find that all his endeavors in the world had gone waste.
