📖 Commentary of Surah Al-Kahf – Verse 76

"Musa said, 'If I ask you about anything after this, then do not keep my company [169]; indeed, you have already fulfilled your excuse from my side [170].'"

✅ [169] Requesting Separation with Respect

Hazrat Musa (on whom be peace) made a respectful request that if he questioned again, Hazrat Khizr should separate him from his company—but not by Khizr’s own choice or initiative. Rather, Musa himself acknowledged his own shortcomings and left the decision to Khizr out of adab (respect).

This manner of phrasing preserves the etiquette of the student toward the teacher, even in the face of personal error.

✅ [170] Acceptance of Personal Accountability

By saying, “you have already fulfilled your excuse from my side,” Hazrat Musa admitted that Hazrat Khizr would be justified in parting ways after a third mistake. This would not be seen as a breach of promise or unfairness, as Musa himself acknowledged the repeated lapses.

It shows the humility of a Prophet in recognizing his human limitation and upholding the terms of a spiritual agreement, even when it challenges his understanding.
