📖 Commentary of Surah Al-Kahf – Verse 46

"The wealth and sons are an adornment [107] of the life of this world, and the lasting good deeds [108] are better with your Lord in reward and best in hope."

✅ [107] Worldly Adornments

Wealth and children are considered the beauty and adornment of this worldly life.
When these blessings are used solely for worldly enjoyment, they remain temporary and fleeting.
However, when both are utilized as means to attain the Hereafter, they become part of lasting good deeds.
It is reported in a Hadith Shareef that a pious child acts as ongoing charity (Sadaqah Jariyah), continuing to benefit the parent even after death, right up to the Day of Judgment.

✅ [108] Lasting Good Deeds

This refers to those good deeds that are neither wasted nor destroyed in this world but accompany a person in the Hereafter.
These include acts of worship, charity whose rewards continue to accrue, and other righteous deeds.
Some scholars have also explained that this can include virtuous daughters who are married off, thereby increasing a person’s good deeds and progeny in a blessed manner.
