"For them are Gardens of Eternity beneath which rivers flow. They will be adorned therein with bracelets of gold [74], and will wear green garments of silk [75] and heavy brocade [76]. They will be reclining on raised couches. What an excellent reward and what a beautiful resting place!"
This refers to perpetual gardens, a permanent and eternal abode for the righteous, from which they will never be expelled, and where death will never overtake them. May Allah Almighty grant us entry into this blessed place!
Each dweller of Paradise will be adorned with three types of bracelets: one of gold, one of silver, and one of pearls. These will extend up to the portion of the arms reached during ablution, signifying their purity. In this world, it was prohibited for men to wear such adornments due to the demands of jihad and worldly responsibilities. But in Paradise, there will be no battlefields, and hence, such embellishments are permitted and honored.
This signifies the special status of the color green in the sight of Allah Almighty. It is not coincidental that the earth of Paradise is green, the souls of martyrs are green, and even the dome above the blessed grave of the Holy Prophet ﷺ is green. Thus, this shade holds a beautiful symbolism of divine beauty, comfort, and tranquility.
The tafsir of Surah Kahf verse 31 by Ibn Kathir is unavailable here.
Please refer to Surah Kahf ayat 30 which provides the complete commentary from verse 30 through 31.
(18:31) They shall dwell in the Gardens of Eternity, beneath which streams flow. There they will be adorned with bracelets of gold,[34] will be arrayed in green garments of silk and rich brocade, and will recline on raised couches.[35] How excellent is their reward, and how nice their resting-place!”
34. The dwellers of Paradise will be adorned with bracelets of gold like the kings of ancient times. This will be to show that they will be adorned like the kings of this world, whereas an unbeliever and wicked king will be disgraced there.
35. The Arabic word araaik is plural of arikah which is that kind of throne that is covered with an umbrella. This is also to show that in Paradise the believers will sit on thrones like the kings of this world.
