📖 Commentary of Surah Al-Kahf – Verse 7

"Indeed, We have adorned whatever is on the earth [10] as a decoration for it, so that We may test them as to which of them is best in deeds [11]."

✅ [10] The Purpose Behind Earth’s Adornments

This refers to the adornments of the earth such as human beings, animals, agriculture, gardens, and other blessings.

From this, we learn that Allah Almighty has not created anything without purpose or benefit. While some things may appear harmful, their creation itself is not evil.

For example, disbelievers are indeed evil in belief, but their creation is not evil. Without their existence, how would believers engage in jihad, earn rewards, achieve martyrdom, or gain spoils of war?

Due to the presence of disbelievers, many of the believers’ acts of worship and sacrifices are manifested. For more detailed insight, refer to Tafseer Naeemi, which outlines the wisdom behind the creation of the devil as well.

✅ [11] The Real Purpose of Worldly Beauties

This worldly adornment serves as a test: who among mankind chooses what is lawful, avoids the prohibited, and differentiates between good and evil?

It should be noted that Allah’s testing is not for His own knowledge, since He knows everything already. Rather, it is to make the reality manifest to His servants, so that no one can object on the Day of Judgement.
