Transliteration:( Allazeena kaanat a'yunuhum fee ghitaaa'in 'an zikree wa kaanoo laa yastatee'oona sam'aa (section 11) )
"They are those whose eyes were covered from My remembrance and who could not hear [223]."
This verse refers to the disbelievers whose hearts, eyes, and ears were closed to the remembrance of Allah. The covering over their eyes symbolizes their willful ignorance and arrogance, while their inability to hear indicates a deliberate refusal to listen to the truth of Divine Revelation.
The reason for this spiritual blindness and deafness is rooted in their hatred and malice towards the Prophets, especially towards the Holy Prophet ﷺ. Those who harbor animosity in their hearts against the bearers of guidance, naturally detach themselves from Allah's remembrance.
The commentary emphasizes that hearts lacking love for the Prophet ﷺ, and thereby the Qur’an, will remain devoid of true faith. The Qur’an cannot reside in a heart that has turned away from its Messenger.
