Transliteration:( Summa ba'asnaahum lina'lama ayyul hizbaini ahsaa limaa labisooo amadaa (section 1) )
"Then We raised them up to see which of the two groups was better at calculating the length of their stay. [17]"
This verse refers to the difference of opinion among the people regarding the exact number of years the Companions of the Cave had remained in slumber.
Allah Almighty revived them so that it may become clear which group’s estimation of their stay was more accurate.
This was not only to resolve the disagreement, but also to demonstrate Divine Power and provide a living sign for the deniers of resurrection, that if Allah can awaken sleepers after centuries, then raising the dead on the Day of Judgement is certainly within His Power.
