Quran-20:108 Surah Ta-ha English Translation,Transliteration and Tafsir(Tafseer).

Transliteration:( Yawma iziny yattabi'oonad daa'iya laa 'iwaja lahoo wa khasha'atil aswaatu lir Rahmaani falaa tasma'u illaa hamsaa )

108. On that day they will run behind (149) the caller, there will be no crookedness in him, and all voices will be low (150) before the Most Affectionate, then you will not hear but a very low sound (151).

Surah Ta-Ha Ayat 108 Tafsir (Commentry)

  • Tafseer-e-Naeemi (Ahmad Yaar Khan)
  • Ibn Kathir
  • Ala-Madudi

149. This means the voice of Israfeel (On whom be peace), which would be conveyed at the time of the second trumpet and will travel to every nook and cranny of the earth. On hearing it, everyone will come to life and begin to run.

150 This means due to the awe and fear of Allah Almighty, there would be total silence at the Field of Resurrection (MAHSHAR). This will be the first condition of the Day of Qiyamah. Petitions, entreaties, interrogations, etc. will come later. Hence, there is no inconsistency in the verses.

151.Sound of the feet, sound of walking from the graves towards the plain of Mahshar or in the plain of Mahshar itself, in search of the intercessor, or due to any other reason.

Ibn-Kathir

The tafsir of Surah Ta-Ha verse 108 by Ibn Kathir is unavailable here.
Please refer to Surah Taha ayat 105 which provides the complete commentary from verse 105 through 108.

(20:108) On that Day people shall follow straight on to the call of the summoner, no one daring to show any haughtiness. Their voices shall be hushed before the Most Compassionate Lord, so that you will hear nothing but a whispering murmur.[84]

84. The original Arabic word hams is used for the sound of footsteps, the sound of whispering and other low sounds. What it implies here is that the people will be so awestricken on that Day that there will be no sound other than that of footsteps and whispering.
