📖 Commentary of Surah Ta-Ha – Verse 47

"Then go to him and say, 'We have been sent [51] by your Lord, then send forth [52] with us the children of Yaqub and torture them not. No doubt, we have brought to you the sign from your Lord. And peace be to him who follows the guidance [53].'"

✅ [51] Recognition of the Prophet Comes First

From this we learn that recognizing the Prophet comes before all else.
One must first recognize the Prophet, and then through his guidance, recognize Allah Almighty.

It is for this reason that during his propagation, the Holy Prophet ﷺ introduced his personality to the disbelievers and asked, "How do you find me?"

✅ [52] Meaning of "Send Forth"

This means: "Emancipate them from slavery."
It does not mean to expel everyone from Egypt, rather, Musa (peace be upon him) himself wanted to remain in Egypt.
Hence, the next phrase "Torture them not" explains this order.

✅ [53] Greeting and Peace

If it becomes necessary to greet a disbeliever, then do so with these words:
"Peace be to him who follows the guidance."
It is not appropriate to say 'peace be upon' or 'mercy of Allah be upon' an infidel.
To do so is incorrect and contrary to Islamic teachings.
