Transliteration:( Fa ajmi'oo kaidakum summma'too saffaa; wa qad aflahal yawma manis ta'laa )
Make firm your stratagem, [77] then come in ranks and today he who overcome reached to his goal. [78]
They were instructed to tighten their plan and appear in organized rows, so that Hazrat Musa (peace be upon him) might be overawed by their display.
According to Tafseer Roohul Ma’ani, they came forward in seventy-two rows, with a thousand magicians in each row.
They said, “Whoever wins today will succeed.”
This meant: if they overpowered Musa, they would gain Pharaoh’s favour. But if Musa (peace be upon him) triumphed, he would rise in status before Pharaoh.

38. They also urged them to present a united front and not to show their differences on the very occasion of the encounter. For, they argued, any hesitation and secret consultation before the very eyes of the public would show that they did not consider themselves to be in the right.
