📖 Commentary of Surah Taha – Verse 88

Then he brought out for them a calf, a lifeless [124] body lowing. Then they said, “This is your god and the god of Musa, and Musa forgot.” [125]

✅ [124] The Golden Calf and Its Deception

Samiri forged a lifeless calf from the melted gold, yet it produced a lowing sound.
According to authentic tafsir, this sound came due to the dust from the hoof of Hazrat Jibraeel’s (peace be upon him) horse, not from mechanical tricks like blowing air through its nose.

Believing it was a trick with holes and whistles contradicts the next verse of the Qur’an, which clarifies the supernatural nature of the event.

✅ [125] Musa (peace be upon him) “Forgot”?

The misguided claim of the people was:
“Musa forgot his god and went to Mount Sinai in search of Him, whereas the real god is here.”

This shows the depth of their delusion, that they could declare a lifeless idol to be the true deity, and believe a Prophet of Allah had erred in knowing his Lord.

This verse exposes the power of misguidance when rooted in ignorance and fuelled by blind following.
