📖 Commentary of Surah Taha – Verse 129

And had not a word of your Lord gone forth [183] and a term determined then necessarily, the punishment would have stuck to them [184].

✅ 183. The Protection of This Ummah

The ‘word’ refers to Allah’s promise that your Ummah (O Prophet ﷺ) will not be seized by a universal worldly punishment as previous nations were. Instead, their accountability is reserved primarily for the Hereafter.

✅ 184. Deferred Until the Day of Judgment

This means that had there not been a preordained time for punishment, the torment would have already descended upon them in this world. But now, it is postponed until the Day of Qiyamah.
