📖 Commentary of Surah Taha – Verse 84

Submitted he, “Those are they behind me, and O my Lord! I hastened to You so that You may be pleased.” [113]

✅ [113] Love-Driven Haste Towards Divine Pleasure

From this verse, three important lessons emerge:

  1. Expressing longing and love for Allah—as Hazrat Musa (peace be upon him) did—is a praiseworthy act.
His eagerness to reach Allah’s presence shows deep devotion.

  2. Interpreting religious matters is permissible. Hazrat Musa believed that hastening ahead would bring Divine pleasure, even though it wasn’t explicitly commanded.

  3. Even Prophets may exercise juristic reasoning (ijtihad) in certain matters.
Hazrat Musa’s decision to walk faster was based on his understanding and love, not on a direct order from Allah.

This verse shows how earnest intention, even if not divinely instructed, is honoured when rooted in sincere love and devotion.
