    📖 Commentary of Surah Taha – Verse 78

    Then Firawn followed them with his host [103], and then the river covered them as to be covered.

    ✅ [103] Pharaoh’s Pursuit and Destruction

    Pharaoh, along with his entire army, pursued Hazrat Musa (peace be upon him) and the Israelites.

    According to narration, the front division alone consisted of six hundred thousand paid soldiers, indicating the massive scale of Pharaoh’s forces.

    But when they entered the path through the sea, the waters returned and completely overwhelmed them, drowning them all in a display of Divine retribution

    54. According to (Surah Ash-Shuara, Ayat 64-66), Pharaoh with his hosts followed the caravan on the dry path and they all were drowned. In Surah Al-Baqarah, Ayat 50, it has been stated that the Israelites had reached the other shore and saw them drowning in the sea. From (Surah Younus, Ayat 90-92), we learn that Pharaoh professed to believe in God while he was drowning but this was rejected by God and he was told that his dead body would he preserved for the coming generations to serve as a lesson for them.

    (78) So Pharaoh pursued them with his soldiers, and there covered them from the sea that which covered them,[845]

    [845]- i.e., not only the water but that which only Allāh knows - terror, pain, regret, etc.
