Al-Furqan (Arabic: الفرقان, 'al-furqān; meaning: The Criterion) is the 25th chapter (sūrah) of the Qur'an, with 77 verses (āyāt).

The summary/ theme of the surah  Al-Furqan: 

 There are verses in Surah Furqan about monotheism, Qiyamah, prophethood, and fighting idolatry. Moreover, Surah Furqan discusses the excuses and answers of polytheists.

Lesson learned from surah  Al-Furqan: 

  1. People thought the Prophet ï·º was too ‘normal’ and ‘down to earth’ to be a prophet. They judged comparing him to a king. The inheritors of the Prophet ï·º should also be ‘down to earth’ and not cut off from the people, unlike the kings and rulers.  
  2. In Jannah, the people will have whatever they wish for, and live therein forever.  
  3. The transgressors will regret the friendships they kept in this world on the Day of Judgement, as they kept them away from the Remembrance of Allāh.  
  4. The Prophet ï·º will complain to Allāh on the Day of Judgement for the Ummah neglecting the Qur’ān.  
  5. Every prophet had enemies.  
  6. The Prophet ï·º was sent as a giver of glad tidings and a warner.  
  7. There are signs of Allāh’s greatness and benevolence all round.  
  8. Ignore the ignorant.  
  9. Read this du‘ā regularly: رَبَّنَا اصْرِفْ عَنَّا عَذَابَ جَهَنَّمَ إِنَّ عَذَابَهَا كَانَ غَرَامًا 
  10. ‘O Our Rabb, avert from us the punishment of Jahannam (Hell); indeed, its punishment is a persisting affliction.’

بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

 

وَكَذَٰلِكَ جَعَلۡنَا لِكُلِّ نَبِيٍّ عَدُوّٗا مِّنَ ٱلۡمُجۡرِمِينَۗ وَكَفَىٰ بِرَبِّكَ هَادِيٗا وَنَصِيرٗا
 Transliteration:( Wa kazaalika ja'alnaa likulli Nabiyyin 'aduwwan minal mujrimeen; wa kafaa bi Rabbika haadiyanw wa naseeraa )

31. And thus We made for every prophet an enemy from amongst the culprits (58). And your Lord is sufficient to guide and to help (59).

 Transliteration:( Wa qaalal lazeena kafaroo law laa nuzzila 'alaihil Qur'aanu jumlatanw waahidah; kazaalika linusabbita bihee fu'aadaka wa rattalnaahu tarteelaa )

32. And the infidels said, "Why was the Qur'an not sent down all at once to them? (60). We have thus sent it down gradually that We may strengthen your heart therewith,( 61) and We recited it with gradual recitation (62).

وَلَا يَأۡتُونَكَ بِمَثَلٍ إِلَّا جِئۡنَٰكَ بِٱلۡحَقِّ وَأَحۡسَنَ تَفۡسِيرًا
 Transliteration:( Wa laa ya'toonaka bi masalin illaa ji'naaka bilhaqqi wa ahsana tafseeraa )

33. And they will not bring you and saying but We shall bring you the truth and a better explanation (63),

34. And those who shall be driven up upon their faces towards the Hell, their destination is worst and worst misguided from the path (64).

37. And as to the people of Nuh, when they belied the Messengers (68), We drowned them and made them a sign (69) for the people. And We have already prepared a painful punishment for the oppressors (70).

39. And We narrated examples (72) to all and We obliterated all after complete annihilation.

40. And necessarily, they have already visited the town where an evil rain came upon them (73). Had they not seen it? Nay, but they had no hope to be raised up alive.
