The summary/theme of the surah an-nahl:

It presents very persuasive proofs of Tawhid and refutation of shirk based on clear signs in the universe and in man's own creation. It answers the objections of the disbelievers, refutes their arguments, and removes their doubts. It warns against the consequences of persisting in false ways.

Lesson learned from surah an-nahl:

  1. There are innumerable blessings and signs of Allāh pointing to His existence and supremacy.  
  2. If you try to count the favours of Allāh, you will be unable to do so.  
  3. For those who do good, they will witness the fruits of that good in this very world, as well as in the Hereafter.[1]  
  4. The people of Jannah will get whatever they desire.  
  5. When Allāh wants something to happen, He merely says ‘Be’ and it happens.  
  6. Ask the people who know if you yourself don’t.  
  7. If Allāh was to punish the people immediately for every sin they committed, there would be no living thing left on earth.[2]  
  8. Allāh orders all things good, and forbids all evil.  
  9. Whatever is with us in the world will cease to exist; whatever is with Allāh [reward] will remain forever.  
  10. Whoever does good in this world, be it male or female, will be granted a good life in this world together with the reward in the Hereafter.  
  11. When you recite the Qur’ān, you should start with seeking refuge in Allāh from Shayṭān.  
  12. Ingratitude leads to great depravation in this world, as well as the Hereafter.  
  13. Da‘wah (calling towards Allāh) should be done with wisdom and good admonition.

بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

 

وَلَوۡ يُؤَاخِذُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلنَّاسَ بِظُلۡمِهِم مَّا تَرَكَ عَلَيۡهَا مِن دَآبَّةٖ وَلَٰكِن يُؤَخِّرُهُمۡ إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلٖ مُّسَمّٗىۖ فَإِذَا جَآءَ أَجَلُهُمۡ لَا يَسۡتَـٔۡخِرُونَ سَاعَةٗ وَلَا يَسۡتَقۡدِمُونَ
 Transliteration:( Wa law yu'aakhizul laahun naasa bizulminhim maa taraka 'alaihaa min daaabbatinw wa laakiny yu'akhkhiruhum ilaaa ajalim musamman fa izaa jaaa'a ajaluhum laa yastaakhiroona saa'atanw wa laa yastaqdimoon )

61. And if Allah would have (123) taken them for their wrong doings, then He would have left no (124) crawling creature on earth, but He defers them till a fixed time (125), then when their time comes, they cannot remain behind a single hour, nor can they go ahead of it (126),

 Transliteration:( Wa yaj'aloona lillaahi maa yakrahoona wa tasifu alsinatuhumul kaziba anna lahumul husnaa laa jarama anna lahumun Naara wa annahum mufratoon )

62. And appoint for Allah what they themselves dislike (127), and their tongues lie saying that they like it (128), Then undoubtedly for them is the fire (129), and they are the people who have crossed the limits.

تَٱللَّهِ لَقَدۡ أَرۡسَلۡنَآ إِلَىٰٓ أُمَمٖ مِّن قَبۡلِكَ فَزَيَّنَ لَهُمُ ٱلشَّيۡطَٰنُ أَعۡمَٰلَهُمۡ فَهُوَ وَلِيُّهُمُ ٱلۡيَوۡمَ وَلَهُمۡ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٞ
 Transliteration:( Tallaahi laqad arsalnaaa ilaaa umamim min qablika fazayyana lahumush Shaitaanu a'maalahum fahuwa waliyyuhumul yawma wa lahum 'azaabun aleem )

63. By Allah, We sent messengers to many nations before you, then Satan made their work look beautiful in their eyes (130) so he is their companion (131) on this day and for them is a painful punishment.

64. And We have not sent down this book to you but in order that you make clear to them what (132) they differ (133), and guidance and a mercy for the believers (134).

65. And Allah sent down water from the heavens (135), and then He gave life to earth after its death. Surely there are signs in it for those who listen (136).

وَإِنَّ لَكُمۡ فِي ٱلۡأَنۡعَٰمِ لَعِبۡرَةٗۖ نُّسۡقِيكُم مِّمَّا فِي بُطُونِهِۦ مِنۢ بَيۡنِ فَرۡثٖ وَدَمٖ لَّبَنًا خَالِصٗا سَآئِغٗا لِّلشَّـٰرِبِينَ
 Transliteration:( Wa inna lakum fil an'aami la'ibrah; nusqeekum mimmmaa fee butoonihee mim baini farsinw wa damil labanann khaalisan saaa'ighallish shaaribeen )

66. And verily, there is a lesson for you in the cattle (137). We give you to drink whatever is in their bellies (138) from between the dung and the blood, pure milk that is easy to swallow for the drinkers (139).

67. And of the fruits of date palms and grapes, you make therefrom a non-alcoholic drink and good provision (140). Indeed, in it there is a sign for a nation of wisdom.

68. And your Lord inspired (141) the honey bee to make houses in the hills and in the trees and in the roofs.

 Transliteration:( Summma kulee min kullis samaraati faslukee subula Rabbiki zululaa; yakhruju mim butoonihaa sharaabum mukh talifun alwaanuhoo feehi shifaaa'ul linnaas, innna fee zaalika la Aayatal liqawminy yatafakkaroon )

69. Then eat of every type of fruit (142), and walk the ways (143) of your Lord, which is smooth and easy for you. There comes out from their bellies a drink of varied colours (144) in which there is healing for the people (145), Verily there are signs in it for those who ponder (146),

70. Allah has created you, and then He will cause you to die (147). And some of you are turned towards the worst part of life, so that they will not know even after having knowledge (148). No doubt, Allah is All Knowing and All Powerful (149).
