The summary/theme of the Surah Ar-Rum:

 In this Surah, a large part of the verses talk about the divine bounties in heaven and on earth, the conjugality system in plants and animals, the creation of man from dust, the relationship between a man and a woman, work during the day and sleep at night, rain, winds, and the revival of the earth.

Lesson learned from Surah Ar-Rum:

  1. To Allāh belongs all matters, at all times.  
  2. Allāh does not go against His promise.  
  3. Most people are aware of the superficial things regarding the worldly life, but are neglectful of the life Hereafter.  
  4. Allāh created spouses so that they find tranquillity in one another.  
  5. It’s worrying how in difficulty and when faced with adversity, we remember Allāh, yet when He blesses us with some goodness, we forget Him.  
  6. Allāh opens up sustenance for whomsoever He wishes, and restricts it from whomsoever He wishes.  
  7. Corruption spreads in the land and the sea due to the evils of the people, so that Allāh may show them the consequences of their actions, and that they may repent.  
  8. Travel the world and observe how the people of the past met their ends.

بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

 

۞مُنِيبِينَ إِلَيۡهِ وَٱتَّقُوهُ وَأَقِيمُواْ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَلَا تَكُونُواْ مِنَ ٱلۡمُشۡرِكِينَ
 Transliteration:( Muneebeena ilaihi wattaqoohu wa aqeemus Salaata wa laa takoonoo minal mushrikeen )

31.Turn to bim (67) in repentance, and fear Him and establish (68) prayer. and be not of the polytheists (69).

مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ فَرَّقُواْ دِينَهُمۡ وَكَانُواْ شِيَعٗاۖ كُلُّ حِزۡبِۭ بِمَا لَدَيۡهِمۡ فَرِحُونَ
 Transliteration:( Minal lazeena farraqoo deenahum wa kaanoo shiya'an kullu hizbim bimaa ladaihim farihoon )

32.They are those who have split up (70 )their religion and have become many sects. Every sect is happy (71)with what they have with them.

 Transliteration:( Wa izaa massan naasa durrun da'aw Rabbahum muneebeena ilaihi summa izaaa azaqahum minhu rahmatan izaa fareequm minhum be Rabbihim yushrikoon )

33.And when any hurt (72) touches mankind, they call their Lord turning (73) towards Him. Then when He lets them taste (74) mercy, then a group of them start to be polytheists (75), associating partners with their Lord.

 Transliteration:( Li yakfuroo bimaaa aatainaahum; fatamatta'oo fasawfa ta'lamoon )

34. Thus, they become ungrateful for what We have given them. So enjoy (a while) then soon you are to know (76) (its result).

35.Have We revealed to them any authority that speaks in favour of that they become Our associates? (77).

36.And when We cause mankind to taste mercy, they rejoice (78) in it. And if any evil befalls them as a result of what their hands have sent forth, they become despaired (79).

 Transliteration:( Awalam yaraw annal laaha yabsutur rizqa limai yashaaa'u wa yaqdir; inna fee zaalika la Aayaatil liqawminy yu'minoon )

37. Have they not seen that Allah expands the provision for whom He pleases, and shortens for whom He pleases? Surely in it are signs for the people who believe (80).

 Transliteration:( Fa aati zal qurbaa haqqahoo walmiskeena wabnassabeel; zaalika khairul lil lazeena yureedoona Wajhal laahi wa ulaaa'ika humul muflihoon )

38. Therefore give the kinsman his right (81), and to the needy and the wayfarer (82). This is better for those who seek the pleasure of Allah, and it is they who become prosperous (83)

 Transliteration:( Wa maaa aataitum mir ribal li yarbuwa feee amwaalin naasi falaa yarboo 'indal laahi wa maaa aataitum min zaakaatin tureedoona wajhal laahi fa ulaaa'ika humul mud'ifoon )

39.And whatever you pay as usury (interest) that it may increase the wealth of the givers, and then it will not increase (84) with Allah. And whatever you give as charity (Zakaat) desiring Allah's pleasure (85), and then it will increase manifold (86),

ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِي خَلَقَكُمۡ ثُمَّ رَزَقَكُمۡ ثُمَّ يُمِيتُكُمۡ ثُمَّ يُحۡيِيكُمۡۖ هَلۡ مِن شُرَكَآئِكُم مَّن يَفۡعَلُ مِن ذَٰلِكُم مِّن شَيۡءٖۚ سُبۡحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ عَمَّا يُشۡرِكُونَ
 Transliteration:( Allaahul lazee khalaqa kum summa razaqakum summa yumeetukum summa yuhyeekum hal min shurakaaa'ikum mai yaf'alu min zaalikum min shai'; Sub haanahoo wa Ta'aalaa 'ammaa yushrikoon (section 4) )

40.Allah is He Who has created you, and then provides (87) for you. Then He will cause you to die, and then He will give you life(88). Then is there any of your associates who may do (89) any of these things? Glorified and Exalted is He. free from what they associate.
