The summary /theme of the Surah Az-Zumar:

It is primarily about calling people to monotheism and sincerity in worship in Surah Zumar. As the surah begins, it emphasizes the benefits of monotheism and Allah not having any sons. It asks the Prophet to purify his religion and not to worship the polytheist gods.

Lesson learned from Az-Zumar:

  1. No soul will carry the burden of another on the Day of Qiyāmah.
  2. Generally, when a human is afflicted with difficulty, he/she turns to Allāh, but when they then enjoy a blessing, they forget their turning to Allāh.
  3. Ignorant and knowledgeable people can never be equal.
  4. Allāh promises those who adopt taqwā and do good, goodness in this world as well as the Hereafter
  5. None except Allāh can save those who have been doomed to the Fire
  6. When those who fear Allāh hear the Qur’ān, they tremble, and their hearts soften and incline towards Allāh’s remembrance.
  7. There is no greater oppressor than the one who attributes falsehood to Allāh, and denies the truth when it comes to him.
  8. Is Allāh not sufficient for His slave?
  9. If the oppressors had the option to give the equivalent of twice the world and everything that it contains in return for safety from the severe punishment of the Hereafter, they would give it. However, they shall face such punishment that they had not anticipated in the slightest.
  10.  Allāh forgives all sins; let not those who have sinned excessively lose hope in Allāh’s Mercy.
  11. Turn to Allāh and submit to Him before it’s too late, and His punishment befalls you. You will then be totally helpless.
  12. Those who lied against Allāh will find their faces blackened on the Day of Qiyāmah.
  13. On the Day of Judgement, each soul shall be recompensed for its deeds in full.
  14. When the people of Jahannam shall be taken to Jahannam, the doors will be flung open for them to enhance their horrific experience.
  15. When the people of Jannah will be led to Jannah, its doors will already be open to receive them with honour.

Transliteration:( Alam tara annal laaha anzala minas samaaa'i maaa'an fasalakahoo yanaabee'a fil ardi summa yukhriju bihee zar'am mukhtalifan alwaanuhoo summa yaheeju fatarahu musfarran summa yaj'aluhoo hutaamaa; inna fee zaalika lazikraa li ulil albaab (section 2) )

21.Have you not seen that Allah has sent(56) down water from the sky, and then made springs (57) in the earth from them? Then He causes to grow therewith crops of diverse colours (58), Thereafter it dries up and you see that it turns yellow. Then He breaks it into small grains(59)". Surely, it is a lesson for men of understanding,(60)

Transliteration:( Afaman sharahal laahu sadrahoo lil Islaami fahuwa 'alaa noorim mir Rabbih; fa wailul lilqaasiyati quloobuhum min zikril laah; ulaaa'ika fee dalaalim mubeen )

22.Cannot such one, whose heart Allah has opened for Islam (61) (peace), possess a light (62) from his Lord? But woe to those whose hearts are hardened (63) from the (64) rememberance of Allah. They are clearly on the wrong way.

Transliteration:( Allahu nazzala ahsanal hadeesi Kitaabam mutashaa biham masaaniy taqsha'irru minhu juloodul lazeena yakhshawna Rabbahum summa taleenu julooduhum wa quloo buhum ilaa zikril laah; zaalika hudal laahi yahdee bihee mai yashaaa'; wa mai yudlilil laahu famaa lahoo min haad )

23.Allah has revealed the best Book that is alike from beginning to the end (in beauty, truth and fairness), having repeated description (65) (promise of reward and award of punishment) at which do shiver (66) the skins of those who fear their Lord. Their skins and hearts soften towards the rememberance of Allah. This is the guidance of Allah. He guides therewith whom He Pleases (67). And he, whom Allah leaves to go on the wrong (68) way, there is none to guide him.

Transliteration:( Afamai yattaqee biwaj hihee sooo'al 'azaabi Yawmal Qiyaamah; wa qeela lizzaali meena zooqoo maa kuntum taksiboon )

24.He who will make his face (69) to undergo the great punishment on the Day of Judgement is not equal to him who will be saved. And it will be said to the oppressors: "Taste (70) what you earned".

Transliteration:( Kazzabal lazeena min qablihim fa ataahumul 'azaabu min haisu laa yash'uroon )

25.Those who falsified before them, faced punishment whence they knew not "(71).

26. Therefore, Allah made them to taste humiliation "(72) in the life of this world. But the punishment of the Hereafter is the greatest (73). What a good thing it would bave been if they knew?

Transliteration:( Darabal laahu masalar rajulan feehi shurakaaa'u mutashaakisoona wa rajulan salamal lirajulin hal yastawi yaani masalaa; alhamdu lillaah; bal aksaruhum laa ya'lamoon )

29.Allah sets an example: A servant belonging to disagreeing rude masters, and another belonging solely to one master. Are they both equal (77) in condition? All praise be to Allah. But most of them do not know.
