    Believers Watching the Disbelievers – Commentary (Tafseer) of Verse 83:35

    "While they look on, seated on couches."

    Reversal of Fate in the Hereafter

    This verse describes the final consequence of the arrogance of the disbelievers. The same believers whom they mocked in the world will now be honored in Paradise, while the disbelievers will face humiliation in Hell.

    Two Important Lessons from This Verse

    1. No Sympathy for the Inhabitants of Hell

      • The believers in Paradise will feel no sorrow for their relatives or friends who are punished in Hell.
      • Even a father will not grieve over his disbelieving son’s punishment; instead, he will rejoice over Allah’s justice.

    2. Unlimited Vision in Paradise

      • Despite Paradise being above the seven heavens and Hell being millions of miles below the earth, the believers will see everything clearly.
      • If the inhabitants of Paradise can witness the state of the inhabitants of Hell, then it is not surprising that the Holy Prophet ﷺ can see the entire world from the Green Dome in Madinah.

    This verse establishes the absolute justice of Allah and the honor of the believers in the Hereafter.
