The summary/ theme of the surah Al-Araf

Al-Araf is one of the most detailed Surahs about the origins of creation and revealing prophecies about the judgment day. In the beginning, it describes how Satan forced Adam and Eve to leave heaven and they all came down to earth. From that point on, Satan became humanity's greatest enemy.

Lesson learned from Surah Al-Araf

  1. Our actions will be weighed on the Day of Judgement, and if the scale of good outweighs the bad, we will have succeeded, otherwise, we will be losers.
  2. Trying to expose someone’s private parts is a satanic act; it is the very motive Shayṭān had in convincing Ādam and Ḥawwā عليهما السلام to eat from the forbidden tree.
  3. Clothes are a blessing from Allāh.
  4. We should dress well when going to the Masjid.
  5. Don’t be extravagant.
  6. There will be no malice in the hearts of the people of Jannah.
  7. Regularly make this du‘ā:
  8. O Allāh! Pour upon us patience, and take our souls with Islām.’
  9. Sometimes, we have to control our emotions and look at the bigger picture.
  10. Imagine the relationship Mūsā عليه السلام had with Allāh, when Allāh punished the Banū Isrā’īl, Mūsā interceded saying, “If You so wished, You could have destroyed them and myself. Will You destroy us due to the actions of the foolish among us? [After all] it is Your trial; You let astray whomsoever You wish, and guide whomsoever You wish. You are our guardian, so forgive us and have mercy upon us, for You are the best of the forgivers!”
  11. The Mercy of Allāh encompasses everything.
  12. Allāh tests us through good and bad, so that we can mend our ways.
  13. Allāh does not let the actions of those who do good go to waste.
  14. When Shayṭān whispers to you, recite ta‘awwudh:
  15. When the Qur’ān is being recited, remain silent and listen attentively; this will lead to Allāh showing mercy upon you.

Recitation   Benefits of surah Al-Araf

There are count less benefits we are sharing few as below,

1) If you write Surat Araf and wear, then the wearer will be  safe from enemies and wild animals. If you writes this surah with rose water and saffron on paper and hangs it around his neck, so long it remains there, no carnivorous animal would touch him.

2) Recitation of Surat Araf once in a month, will not fear on Day of Judgement Qiyamah. Whoso recites this surat every month would be on the day of judgement, among those about whom verse 35 of this surah says:“No fear shall come upon them, nor shall they grieve.”

3) Those who recite Surah Al Araf often will set a Veil/curtain between shaitan and reciter.

4) If this surah is recited on Friday, the reciter would not be examined on the day of reckoning. This surah would be a witness for the reciter on the day of judgement. On the day of judgement Allah would hang a curtain between the reciter of this surah and Shaytan, and he would be treated as the companions of prophet Adam.

161. (And remember) when it was said to them: "Dwell (367) in this town and eat from it whatever you like (368) and say; 'Our sins may be removed'. And enter the gate prostrating. We shall forgive you (369) your sins. Soon We shall provide for the righteous ones".

Transliteration:( Fabaddalal lazeena zalamoo minhum qawlan ghairal lazee qeela lahum fa arsalnaa 'alaihim rijzan minas samaaa'i bimaa kaanoo yazlimoon )

162.Then the unjust of them (370) changed the words contrary to that what was ordered to them. Then We sent down upon them punishment from heaven (371), the recompense for their injustice.

Transliteration:( Was'alhum 'anil qaryatil latee kaanat haadiratal bahri iz ya'doona fis Sabti iz ta'teehim heetaanuhum yawma Sabtihim shurra'anw wa yawma laa yasbitoona laa ta'teehim; kazaalika nabloohum bimaa kaanoo yafsuqoon )

163.And ask them the condition of the town (372) that was on the seashore. When they crossed the limit in the matter of (373) Sabt (Saturday prohibi-tion) their fish came swimming before them, and the day on which they did not keep the Sabt, they did not come. Thus, We used to try them on account of their disobedience (374).

Transliteration:( Wa iz qaalat ummatum minhum lima ta'izoona qaw manil laahu muhlikuhum aw mu'azzibuhum 'azaaban shadeedan qaaloo ma'ziratan ilaa Rabbikum wa la'allahum yattaqoon )

164.When a group among them said (375): "Why do you admonish those whom Allah is to kill or to inflict upon them severe torment (376)?" They said: "This is an excuse before your Lord and it may be that they fear".

Transliteration:( Falammaa nasoo maa zukkiroo bihee anjainal lazeena yanhawna 'anis sooo'i wa akhaznal lazeena zalamoo bi'azaabim ba'eesim bimaa kaanoo yafsuqoon )

165.Then when they forgot what they had been admonished, We saved those who forbade others (377) from evil and seized the unjust in a vile torment (378), the recompense for their disobedience.

Transliteration:( Falammaa 'ataw 'ammaa nuhoo 'anhu qulna lahum koonoo qiradatan khaasi'een )

166. Then again when they rebelled against the command of prohibition, We said to them: "Be you monkeys, driven away ( 379)

Transliteration:( Wa iz ta azzana Rabbuka la yab'asannna 'alaihim ilaa Yawmil Qiyaamati mai yasoomuhum sooo'al 'azaab; inna Rabbaka lasaree'ul 'iqaabi wa innahoo la Ghafoorur Raheem )

167. And behold when your Lord proclaimed that necessarily till the Day of Resurrection He would continue to send such (380) ones against them who would make them taste evil punishment (381). Surely, your Lord is swift in retribution (382) and undoubtedly He is Most Forgiving, the Most Merciful.

Transliteration:( Wa qatta'naahum fil ardi umaman min humus saalihoona wa min hum doona zaalika wa balawnaahum bil hasanaati was saiyi'aati la'allahum yarji'oon )

168.And We scattered them into communities in the earth (383). Some of them are righteous, and some of them are otherwise (384). And We tried them with good (385) things and evil that perhaps they may return.

Transliteration:( Fakhalafa min ba'dihim khalfunw warisul Kitaaba ya'khuzoona 'arada haazal adnaa wa yaqooloona sayughfaru lanaa wa iny ya'tihim 'aradun misluhoo ya'khuzooh; alam yu'khaz 'alaihim meesaaqul Kitaabi an laa yaqooloo 'alal laahi illal haqqa wa darasoo maa feeh; wad Daarul Aakhirtu khairul lil lazeena yattaqoon; afalaa ta'qiloon )

169.Then in their place came such degenerate successors (386) who inherited the Book. They took the goods of this world (387) and said: "Now we shall be forgiven (388) our sins. But if more fortunes like that came to them, they would take them (389) Was not the covenant of the Book taken from them, that they should say nothing concerning Allah, but the truth (390), and they have read that? And, undoubtedly, the final abode is better for the God-fearing. Have you then no wisdom (391)?

Transliteration:( Wallazeena yumas sikoona bil Kitaabi wa aqaamus Salaata innaa laa nudeeu'ajral musliheen )

170. And those who hold strictly to the Book (392) and establish prayer; We waste not the reward of the righteous.

About Al-Araf, this sûrah takes its name from the heights mentioned in verse 46. It is a captivating and profound chapter of the Quran that transports us to Mecca during the time of revelation. Like many other Meccan sûrahs, it beautifully recounts the stories of earlier prophets who faced rejection and denial from their own people, only to witness their ultimate destruction as a consequence. These narratives serve as reassurance for the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) and act as a stark warning to his community about Allāh's impending torment if they persist on their path of disbelief.

Within this sacred text, we encounter an enthralling retelling of Satan's audacity and Adam's temptation in Paradise, leading to their fall from grace. The intricate details shared here provide invaluable lessons for believers regarding vigilance against Satan's cunning whispers and constant temptations that can lead them astray. This narrative serves as a reminder for believers to remain steadfast in their faith and actively guard themselves against any deceptive influences or distractions along their spiritual journey.

Furthermore, what distinguishes this sûrah are the awe-inspiring descriptions it offers concerning Paradise and Hellfire. Through vivid imagery woven into verses 36-53, readers are transported into realms beyond imagination; where eternal bliss awaits those who strive towards righteousness with unwavering devotion while everlasting punishment looms over those who defiantly reject Allāh's guidance.

The powerlessness of idols is another crucial aspect emphasized throughout Al-Araf. By highlighting how
