Transliteration:( Wa laqad aatainaa Moosal Kitaaba fakhtulifa feeh; wa law laa Kalimatun sabaqat mir Rabbika laqudiya bainahum; wa innahum lafee shakkim minhu mureeb )

110. And no doubt, We gave Musa the Book(215), then they differed therein, And if a word of your Lord had not gone already before, the matter would have been decided (216). between them. And no doubt, they are in a deceptive doubt about it.

Surah Hud Ayat 110 Tafsir (Commentry)

  • Tafseer-e-Naeemi (Ahmad Yaar Khan)
  • Ibn Kathir
  • Ala-Madudi

215. Hazrat Moosa (On whom be peace) is the first Prophet with a revealed Book and the Taurah is the first of the heavenly Books. After his demise there were many disputes about the Book that arose in his followers, some were in possession of the original copy of the Taurah others had a distorted copy. All praise be to Allah Almighty. Muslims have not and will not experience such disputes and disparities regarding the Holy QUR'AAN.

It is protected by Allah Almighty from all types of distortions.

216. This means we already decided that they would be subjected to reckoning and punishment on the Day of Judgement. For this reason they are not subjected to punishment now.

Ibn-Kathir

The tafsir of Surah Hud verse 110 by Ibn Kathir is unavailable here.
Please refer to Surah Hud ayat 109 which provides the complete commentary from verse 109 through 111.

(11:110) And We certainly gave Moses the Book before, and there arose disagreements about it (even as there are disagreements now about the Book revealed to you).[111] Had it not been for a decree that had already gone forth from your Lord, the matter would have long been decided between them.[112] Indeed they are in a disquieting doubt about it.

111. It means this: There is nothing new in the different opinions expressed by different people regarding the Quran. They behaved in the same manner towards the Book that was given to Prophet Moses (peace be upon him). Therefore, O Muhammad (peace be upon him), do not be disheartened by their rejection of the Quran, though its teachings are simple and plain.

112. This is to reassure the Prophet (peace be upon him) and the believers that they should patiently wait for the consequences of the misbehavior of the unbelievers towards the Quran. But this will happen in due course as previously ordained by Allah, for Allah does not make haste in passing judgment, though the people demand haste.
