Transliteration:( Wa akhazal lazeena zalamus saihatu fa asbahoo fee diyaarihim jaasimeena )

67. And a roaring noise [141] overtook those who did wrong, and by morning, they lay prostrate in their homes. (Kanzul Imaan Translation)

(67) And the shriek[562] seized those who had wronged, and they became within their homes [corpses] fallen prone (Saheen International Translation)

Surah Hud Ayat 67 Tafsir (Commentry)

  • Tafseer-e-Naeemi (Ahmad Yaar Khan)
  • Ibn Kathir
  • Ala-Madudi
  • Shaheen International

141. This was the sound made by Hazrat Jibrael (On whom be peace) which frightened them to such an extent that it caused their hearts to break apart. Even today, death is caused by lightening or explosion of a bomb. In another place the Holy QUR'AAN says:

"They have been seized by earthquake". (S7: V78) It is possible that this sound could have caused an earthquake, just as a violent explosion can cause an earth tremor. Hence there is no inconsistency in the verse.
