Quran Quote  :

Quran-11:50 Surah Hud English Translation,Transliteration and Tafsir(Tafseer).

Transliteration:( Wa ilaa 'aadin akhaahum Hoodaa; qaala yaa qawmi' budul laaha maa lakum min ilaahin ghairuhooo in antum illaa muftaroon )

50. And towards Aad (sent) Hud (107), a compatriot of their own. He said. O my people, worship Allah (108). You have no deity beside Him. You are but fabricators.

Surah Hud Ayat 50 Tafsir (Commentry)

  • Tafseer-e-Naeemi (Ahmad Yaar Khan)
  • Ibn Kathir
  • Ala-Madudi

107. Here the word "brother" is in accordance to family relation because Hazrat Hud (On whom be peace) was geneologically from his people. This does not mean that the believers were given permission to call him a brother

108. It should be remembered that since accepting faith is an act of worship, the verse means give up infidelity and accept faith. It could also mean worship Allah Almighty after accepting faith, just as one says to the one without Wudu to perform his Salaah, meaning make Wudu then perform your Salaah. Thus no objection can be raised against the verse that a polytheist is not duty bound to the worship of Allah Almighty.

Ibn-Kathir

50. And to the `Ad (people We sent) their brother Hud. He said, “O my people! Worship Allah! You have no other god but Him. Certainly, you do nothing but invent lies! 51. “O my people I ask of you no reward for it (the Message). My reward is only from Him Who created me. Will you not then understand” 52. “And O my people! Ask forgiveness of your Lord and then repent to Him, He will send you (from the sky) abundant rain, and add strength to your strength, so do not turn away as criminals.”

The Story of Prophet Hud and the People of `Ad

Allah, the Exalted, says,

﴿و﴾

(And) This is an introductory to what is implied: “Verily, We sent.”

﴿إِلَى عَادٍ أَخَاهُمْ هُودًا﴾

(to the `Ad (people) their brother Hud.) Hud came to them commanding them to worship Allah alone, without any associates. He forbade them from worshipping the idols which they made up, inventing names as gods. He informed them that he did not want any reward from them for his sincere advising and conveying of Allah’s Message. He only sought his reward from Allah, the One Who created him.

﴿أَفَلاَ تَعْقِلُونَ﴾

(Will you not then understand) Someone has come calling you to what will benefit your situation in this life and the Hereafter without asking for any wage (from them). Then he commanded them to seek the forgiveness of the One Who is capable of expiating previous sins. He also commanded them to repent for that which they may do in the future. Whoever has these characteristics, Allah will make his sustenance easy for him, grant him ease in his affairs and guard over his situation. For this reason Allah says,

﴿يُرْسِلِ السَّمَآءَ عَلَيْكُمْ مِدْرَاراً ﴾

(He will send you (from the sky) abundant rain,)

(11:50) And to ‘Ad We sent their brother Hud.[54] He said: ‘My people! Serve Allah: you have no god save Him. (In attributing partners to Allah) you have merely been fabricating lies.[55]

Ala-Maududi

(11:50) And to ‘Ad We sent their brother Hud.[54] He said: ‘My people! Serve Allah: you have no god save Him. (In attributing partners to Allah) you have merely been fabricating lies.[55]

54. Please keep in view (Surah Al-Aaraf, ayat 65-72) note 51-56.

55. That is, you have forged falsehood about all the deities you worship beside Allah, for in fact they possess no powers and no qualities that might entitle them to Godhead. As they have absolutely nothing in them which might make them the objects of worship and service, you have put in them false hopes that they would fulfill your desires and needs.
