📖 Commentary of Surah Hud – Verse 58

"And when Our command came, We saved [121] Hud and the believers with him by Our mercy, and delivered them from a severe torment [122]."

✅ [121] Believers and the Prophets' Fellowship
This verse teaches that believers who are with the Prophet share in his salvation. The fellowship and companionship with a Prophet are sources of mercy and protection. When Hazrat Hud (peace be upon him) was saved from the torment, those who believed with him were also saved. This emphasizes the importance of faith and proximity to the Prophet in securing salvation. Just as the believers were saved through their association with Hazrat Hud (peace be upon him), similarly, being in the company of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and following his guidance leads to eternal salvation.

✅ [122] The Role of Faith and Mercy
In total, four thousand people believed in Hazrat Hud (peace be upon him), and they were saved from the severe punishment that befell the disbelievers. This shows that faith and good deeds are the means to salvation, but ultimately, salvation is granted by Allah’s mercy. The phrase "by Our mercy" signifies that even though faith is necessary, it is Allah's mercy that is the true cause of salvation. Without Allah’s mercy, even the best of deeds cannot secure salvation. This teaches that while actions are important, divine mercy is the ultimate factor in achieving salvation.
