Transliteration:( Wa minhum mai yastami'oona iliak; afa anta tusmi'us summa wa law kaanoo laa ya'qiloon )
"And among them are some who listen [124] to you. Then will you make the deaf hear [125], even though they do not understand?" (Kanzul Imaan Translation)
This verse acknowledges that while some individuals may physically listen to the message of Islam, their hearts and minds may not be receptive. Listening here refers to hearing the words, but without the ability to truly comprehend or absorb the message. The verse highlights that simply hearing does not equate to understanding or belief, and only those whose hearts are open can truly benefit from the message.
The verse uses the metaphor of the deaf to describe those who are spiritually closed off. Even though they may hear the message, their minds and hearts are not attuned to it. The message is clear: no matter how much the truth is conveyed, it will not reach those who refuse to understand or accept it, as their inner resistance prevents them from grasping its significance. The reference to the deaf illustrates the spiritual blindness of such individuals.

Please refer to Surah Yunus ayat 41 which provides the complete commentary from verse 41 through 44.
(10:42) Of them some seem to give heed to you; will you, then, make the deaf hear even though they understand nothing?[50]
50. Though this and the succeeding verse have been addressed to the Prophet (peace be upon him), these are meant to reprove those people who were not paying attention to the Message. For they only heard the sounds of the words he spoke to them, just as the animals hear the sound of the words, but pay no attention to understand what is said to them. This was because they were prejudiced against him and had already decided that they would not acknowledge anything, however, reasonable that may be, if it went against the creeds and ways they had inherited, and against their own desires, lusts, and interests. Likewise those people who live like animals hear the sounds of his words, but pay no attention to their meaning for they are not interested in anything other than eating, drinking and making merry. They are so engaged in and intoxicated with the gratification of their lusts that they never bother to find out whether what they are doing is right or wrong. All such people are deaf to the Message, though they might have ears for other things.
