📖 Commentary of Surah Yunus – Verse 51

"Then is it that when it has [actually] occurred you will believe in it? Now [146]? And you were [once] hastening for it [147]?" (Kanzul Imaan Translation)

[146] Faith After Punishment

Belief after the punishment has occurred is unacceptable. The people of Hazrat Yunus (Alaihis Salaam) believed before the punishment, and their repentance was accepted. Pharaoh’s repentance, after seeing the punishment, was rejected.

[147] Haste for Punishment

The disbelievers hastened for the punishment, but when it actually came, they would regret their actions.
