📖 Commentary of Surah Yunus – Verse 7

"Without doubt, those who have no hope to meet Us and are well pleased [24] with this worldly life and are satisfied with it, and those who are neglectful of Our signs [25]."

✅ [24] Those Who Are Pleased with This World

Such people have made the world their permanent resting place, treating it as if it is the ultimate goal and fulfillment. They view the world as a place to settle and find comfort, rather than a temporary abode where they are meant to prepare for the eternal life hereafter. Their attachment to this world blinds them to the reality that it is merely a passing phase and that their ultimate destination lies beyond this world.

✅ [25] Neglecting the Signs of Allah

These verses refer to those who ignore the signs sent by Allah Almighty, including the blessed miracles of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), his exemplary qualities, and the verses of the Holy Qur'an. To be neglectful in this context means to reject or deny these signs, which is regarded as infidelity. The punishment for such rejection is further described in the following verse, highlighting the consequences of turning away from the divine guidance provided by Allah.

Ibn-Kathir

7. Verily, those who hope not for their meeting with Us, but are pleased and satisfied with the life of the present world, and those who are heedless of Our Ayat, 8. Those, their abode will be the Fire, because of what they used to earn.

The Abode of Those Who deny the Hour is Hell-Fire

Allah describes the state of the wretched who disbelieved in the meeting with Allah on the Day of Resurrection and did not look forward to it, who were well-pleased with the life of this world and at rest in it. Al-Hasan said: “They adorned it and praised it until they were well pleased with it. Whereas they were heedless of Allah’s signs in the universe, they did not contemplate them. They were also heedless of Allah’s Laws, for they didn’t abide by them. Their abode on the Day of Return is Fire, a reward for what they have earned in their worldly life from among their sins and crimes. That is beside their disbelief in Allah, His Messenger and the Last Day.”

(10:7) Surely those who do not expect to meet Us, who are gratified with the life of the world and content with it, and are heedless of Our signs,
