Transliteration:( Falammaaa alqaw qaala Moosaa maa ji'tum bihis sihr; innal laaha sa yubtiluhoo; innal laaha laa yuslihu 'amalal mufsideen )
"Then when they had cast down, Musa said, 'What you have brought is sorcery [216]. Indeed, Allah will nullify it [217]. Surely, Allah does not support the deeds of the corrupt [218].'" (Kanzul Imaan Translation)
Hazrat Musa (Alaihis Salaam) immediately recognized that what the magicians presented was mere sorcery, devoid of truth. This shows that prophetic miracles cannot be confused with magic. Prophets are aware that magic is fraudulent and cannot possess any true power in comparison to the divine miracles they perform. While magic may have temporary effects, like poisoning or injury, it can never alter the truth of prophecy. Hazrat Musa (Alaihis Salaam) feared not the magic itself but the potential doubt it could sow among the people.
The verse highlights that Allah would nullify the magic brought by the magicians. Hazrat Musa (Alaihis Salaam) was divinely granted knowledge of the unseen, and he knew that Allah had already decreed the outcome. This foretold knowledge shows that the outcome was preordained and that the power of Allah’s miracles would prevail over any magic.
Two key lessons emerge from this verse:
Practicing black magic is a form of mischief and rebellion against Allah’s law. Magicians are mischief-makers who lead others astray.
Mischief—including magic—is not eternal. Despite its temporary effects, magic will ultimately be rendered useless in the face of divine truth. While magic may carry elements of deception, it contains no truth compared to the divine power of Allah.
