The summary / Theme of the Surah Al-Baqara

The Cow - Al Baqarah (The title of this surah refers to an argument between Moses and the Israelites over a cow they should sacrifice in order to make known the murder of a slain man. This is the longest of all the surah, numbering 286 ayah or verses.

Lesson Learned from Surah Al-Baqara

  1. It is sometimes better not to ask too many questions when instructed to do something. The Jews did this and ended up in trouble.
  2. Be grateful for what you have. 
  3. Don’t do anything that resembles the disbelievers, or will lead them to take your actions as legislation to attack the Dīn. In short, the principle of Sadd-Adh-Dharā‘i’.
  4. Whatever good you send forth for the Hereafter, you will find it there safe and appreciated by Allāh.
  5. You shall never be able to please the Jews and the Christians unless you join them in their religion. 
  6. The relationship between Allāh and the Prophet ﷺ was immensely enviable. 
  7. Ṣabr (Patience) has great virtue: Allāh showers the patient with mercy and guidance.
  8. Eat ḥalāl
  9. Constantly ponder over the creation of Allāh and His blessings, and remember Him. 
  10. There are constant severe warnings for disbelief in the Qur’ān.  
  11.  The status of Shuhadā is indeed great.

  13. The aim of fasting is to create taqwā in the hearts of the believers.  
  14. Regularly make the following du‘ā, especially at the time of Ḥajj
  15.  رَبَّنَآ ءَاتِنَا فِى ٱلدُّنۡيَا حَسَنَةً۬ وَفِى ٱلۡأَخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً۬ وَقِنَا عَذَابَ ٱلنَّارِ 
  16. Enter into Islām in its totality; don’t pick and choose from the Dīn.  
  17. Allāh is ever ready to accept the du‘ās of His servants.  
  18. There are times when we say we are ready to do a certain thing but when that becomes binding on us, we back out. This is reprehensible behavior.
  19. The Help of Allāh will come, albeit sometimes belatedly.  
  20. Allāh does as He wishes; He is not accountable for His actions.  
  21. Spending: the do’s, don’ts, and virtues.
  22. Refrain from asking people for your needs; remain independent from the people, as special praise has been reserved for those who do, despite being in need.
  23. Stay away from interest, as Allāh declares war on those who deal in interest. 
  24. Loans should be written down and dealt with properly.  
  25. Allāh does not make obligatory upon us those things which we are incapable of carrying out. 

Recitation Benefits of Surah Fatiha:

  4. Recite Surat Fatiha 7 times while holding head of the patient who have headache For headache, and repeat the verse no 4 (iyak anaubdu wa iyak anastaeen) thrice, every time and then blow. Insha’ALLAH, Patient will get Shifa.

بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

 

فَمَنۢ بَدَّلَهُۥ بَعۡدَمَا سَمِعَهُۥ فَإِنَّمَآ إِثۡمُهُۥ عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ يُبَدِّلُونَهُۥٓۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ سَمِيعٌ عَلِيمٞ

Transliteration:( Famam baddalahoo ba'da maa sami'ahoo fa innamaaa ismuhoo 'alallazeena yubaddi loonah; innallaha Samee'un 'Aleem )

181. Then whoever alters it (the bequest) after he has heard it; the sin is only upon those who have altered it. Surely, Allah hears and knows (396).

فَمَنۡ خَافَ مِن مُّوصٖ جَنَفًا أَوۡ إِثۡمٗا فَأَصۡلَحَ بَيۡنَهُمۡ فَلَآ إِثۡمَ عَلَيۡهِۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورٞ رَّحِيمٞ

Transliteration:( Faman khaafa mim moosin janafan aw isman fa aslaha bainahum falaaa ismaa 'alayh; innal laaha Ghafoorur Raheem )

182. Then if one fears that a testator has committed certain injustice or sin and then makes reconciliation (between them (the concerned partiesthere is no sin (397) upon him. Verily, Allah is Most Forgiving, Ever Merciful.

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ كُتِبَ عَلَيۡكُمُ ٱلصِّيَامُ كَمَا كُتِبَ عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبۡلِكُمۡ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تَتَّقُونَ

Transliteration:( Yaa ayyuhal lazeena aamanoo kutiba 'alaikumus Siyaamu kamaa kutiba 'alal lazeena min qablikum la'allakum tattaqoon )

183. O you who believe! Fasting (398) has been made obligatory (399) upon you as it was made obligatory upon those before you, so that you may become pious (400).

أَيَّامٗا مَّعۡدُودَٰتٖۚ فَمَن كَانَ مِنكُم مَّرِيضًا أَوۡ عَلَىٰ سَفَرٖ فَعِدَّةٞ مِّنۡ أَيَّامٍ أُخَرَۚ وَعَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ يُطِيقُونَهُۥ فِدۡيَةٞ طَعَامُ مِسۡكِينٖۖ فَمَن تَطَوَّعَ خَيۡرٗا فَهُوَ خَيۡرٞ لَّهُۥۚ وَأَن تَصُومُواْ خَيۡرٞ لَّكُمۡ إِن كُنتُمۡ تَعۡلَمُونَ

Transliteration:( Ayyaamam ma'doodaat; faman kaana minkum mareedan aw'alaa safarin fa'iddatum min ayyaamin ukhar; wa 'alal lazeena yuteeqoonahoo fidyatun ta'aamu miskeenin faman tatawwa'a khairan fahuwa khairul lahoo wa an tasoomoo khairul lakum in kuntum ta'lamoon )

184. The days are counted (401), SO whoever among you is ill (402), or on a journey (403), then an equal number of days (are to be made up) on other days (404) and upon those who have no strength (to fast) (405) a ransom of a (406) meal to a needy person (each day) and whoever volunteers good it is better for him (407). But, to fast is better for you if you only know (408).

شَهۡرُ رَمَضَانَ ٱلَّذِيٓ أُنزِلَ فِيهِ ٱلۡقُرۡءَانُ هُدٗى لِّلنَّاسِ وَبَيِّنَٰتٖ مِّنَ ٱلۡهُدَىٰ وَٱلۡفُرۡقَانِۚ فَمَن شَهِدَ مِنكُمُ ٱلشَّهۡرَ فَلۡيَصُمۡهُۖ وَمَن كَانَ مَرِيضًا أَوۡ عَلَىٰ سَفَرٖ فَعِدَّةٞ مِّنۡ أَيَّامٍ أُخَرَۗ يُرِيدُ ٱللَّهُ بِكُمُ ٱلۡيُسۡرَ وَلَا يُرِيدُ بِكُمُ ٱلۡعُسۡرَ وَلِتُكۡمِلُواْ ٱلۡعِدَّةَ وَلِتُكَبِّرُواْ ٱللَّهَ عَلَىٰ مَا هَدَىٰكُمۡ وَلَعَلَّكُمۡ تَشۡكُرُونَ

Transliteration:( Shahru Ramadaanallazeee unzila feehil Qur'aanu hudal linnaasi wa baiyinaatim minal hudaa wal furqaan; faman shahida minkumush shahra falyasumhu wa man kaana mareedan aw 'alaa safarin fa'iddatum min ayyaamin ukhar; yureedul laahu bikumul yusra wa laa yureedu bikumul 'usra wa litukmilul 'iddata wa litukabbirul laaha 'alaa maa hadaakum wa la'allakum tashkuroon )

185.Ramadaan is the month(409) in which was sent(410) the Quran as guidance to mankind, with clear proofs (411) of guidance and criterion, then whoever among you sights the moon let him fast (412) in it. And whoever is ill or on a journey, then an equal number of fasts on the other days (413). Allah desires for you ease and does not desire hardship for you. And (He wants) for you to complete (414) the period and to glorify Allah as He has guided you and (so that) perhaps you may be grateful (415).

وَإِذَا سَأَلَكَ عِبَادِي عَنِّي فَإِنِّي قَرِيبٌۖ أُجِيبُ دَعۡوَةَ ٱلدَّاعِ إِذَا دَعَانِۖ فَلۡيَسۡتَجِيبُواْ لِي وَلۡيُؤۡمِنُواْ بِي لَعَلَّهُمۡ يَرۡشُدُونَ

Transliteration:( Wa izaa sa alaka 'ibaadee 'annnee fa innee qareebun ujeebu da'wataddaa'i izaa da'aani falyastajeeboo lee wal yu'minoo bee la'allahum yarshudoon )

186.And (Oh Beloved) when My servants ask (416) you concerning Me. Indeed, I am near. I accept (417) the prayer of the supplicant when he calls upon Me, so let them obey (418) Me and believe in Me, that they may be guided.

أُحِلَّ لَكُمۡ لَيۡلَةَ ٱلصِّيَامِ ٱلرَّفَثُ إِلَىٰ نِسَآئِكُمۡۚ هُنَّ لِبَاسٞ لَّكُمۡ وَأَنتُمۡ لِبَاسٞ لَّهُنَّۗ عَلِمَ ٱللَّهُ أَنَّكُمۡ كُنتُمۡ تَخۡتَانُونَ أَنفُسَكُمۡ فَتَابَ عَلَيۡكُمۡ وَعَفَا عَنكُمۡۖ فَٱلۡـَٰٔنَ بَٰشِرُوهُنَّ وَٱبۡتَغُواْ مَا كَتَبَ ٱللَّهُ لَكُمۡۚ وَكُلُواْ وَٱشۡرَبُواْ حَتَّىٰ يَتَبَيَّنَ لَكُمُ ٱلۡخَيۡطُ ٱلۡأَبۡيَضُ مِنَ ٱلۡخَيۡطِ ٱلۡأَسۡوَدِ مِنَ ٱلۡفَجۡرِۖ ثُمَّ أَتِمُّواْ ٱلصِّيَامَ إِلَى ٱلَّيۡلِۚ وَلَا تُبَٰشِرُوهُنَّ وَأَنتُمۡ عَٰكِفُونَ فِي ٱلۡمَسَٰجِدِۗ تِلۡكَ حُدُودُ ٱللَّهِ فَلَا تَقۡرَبُوهَاۗ كَذَٰلِكَ يُبَيِّنُ ٱللَّهُ ءَايَٰتِهِۦ لِلنَّاسِ لَعَلَّهُمۡ يَتَّقُونَ

Transliteration:( Uhilla lakum laylatas Siyaamir rafasu ilaa nisaaa'ikum; hunna libaasullakum wa antum libaasullahunn; 'alimal laahu annakum kuntum takhtaanoona anfusakum fataaba 'alaikum wa 'afaa 'ankum fal'aana baashiroo hunna wabtaghoo maa katabal laahoo lakum; wa kuloo washraboo hattaa yatabaiyana lakumul khaitul abyadu minal khaitil aswadi minal fajri summa atimmus Siyaama ilal layl; wa laa tubaashiroo hunna wa antum 'aakifoona fil masaajid; tilka hudoodul laahi falaa taqraboohaa; kazaalika yubaiyinul laahu aayaatihee linnaasi la'allahum yattaqoon )

187. It has been made lawful (419) for you the night preceding fasting to go to your wives. They are a garment for you and you are a garment for them. Allah knows that you used to put your soul in defalcation (420). He has accepted your repentance and pardoned you (421). Now, copulate with them and seek what Allah has written (422) for you. And eat and drink (423) until the white thread becomes clear to you from the black thread of the dawn. Then complete (424) the fast unto the fall of night (sunset). Do not touch your women (wives) (425) while you are in the mosques in secluded devotion (I'tikaaf). These are the limits of Allah. So do not approach them. Thus does Allah make clear His verses to the people that they may become pious.

وَلَا تَأۡكُلُوٓاْ أَمۡوَٰلَكُم بَيۡنَكُم بِٱلۡبَٰطِلِ وَتُدۡلُواْ بِهَآ إِلَى ٱلۡحُكَّامِ لِتَأۡكُلُواْ فَرِيقٗا مِّنۡ أَمۡوَٰلِ ٱلنَّاسِ بِٱلۡإِثۡمِ وَأَنتُمۡ تَعۡلَمُونَ

Transliteration:( Wa laa taakuloo amwaalakum bainakum bilbaatili wa tudloo bihaaa ilal hukkaami litaakuloo fareeqam min amwaalin naasi bil ismi wa antum ta'lamoon )

188. And do not consume another's wealth unjustly (426) or send it to the rulers in order that (they might aid) you to devour (427) a portion of the wealth in sin, while you know (it is unlawful) (428).

۞يَسۡـَٔلُونَكَ عَنِ ٱلۡأَهِلَّةِۖ قُلۡ هِيَ مَوَٰقِيتُ لِلنَّاسِ وَٱلۡحَجِّۗ وَلَيۡسَ ٱلۡبِرُّ بِأَن تَأۡتُواْ ٱلۡبُيُوتَ مِن ظُهُورِهَا وَلَٰكِنَّ ٱلۡبِرَّ مَنِ ٱتَّقَىٰۗ وَأۡتُواْ ٱلۡبُيُوتَ مِنۡ أَبۡوَٰبِهَاۚ وَٱتَّقُواْ ٱللَّهَ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تُفۡلِحُونَ

Transliteration:( Yas'aloonaka 'anil ahillati qul hiya mawaaqeetu linnaasi wal Hajj; wa laisal birru bi an ta'tul buyoota min zuhoorihaa wa laakinnal birra manit taqaa; wa'tul buyoota min abwaa bihaa; wattaqullaaha la'allakum tuflihoon )

189.They ask you (O Muhammad (429) regarding the new moon. Please declare (O Muhammad): "These are signs (430) of time for the people and for Hajj". And it is not virtuous that you may enter your houses from the back (431), but virtue is in piety that you enter your houses from their (proper) doors (432), remaining pious to Allah, which will give you prosperity.

وَقَٰتِلُواْ فِي سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلَّذِينَ يُقَٰتِلُونَكُمۡ وَلَا تَعۡتَدُوٓاْۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يُحِبُّ ٱلۡمُعۡتَدِينَ

Transliteration:( Wa qaatiloo fee sabeelillaahil lazeena yuqaatiloonakum wa laa ta'tadooo; innal laaha laa yuhibbul mu'tadeen )

190.And fight in the way of Allah against those who fight (433) with you ,but do not transgress (434). Surely Allah does not love the transgressors.
