The summary / Theme of the Surah Al-Baqara

The Cow - Al Baqarah (The title of this surah refers to an argument between Moses and the Israelites over a cow they should sacrifice in order to make known the murder of a slain man. This is the longest of all the surah, numbering 286 ayah or verses.

Lesson Learned from Surah Al-Baqara

  1. It is sometimes better not to ask too many questions when instructed to do something. The Jews did this and ended up in trouble.
  2. Be grateful for what you have. 
  3. Don’t do anything that resembles the disbelievers, or will lead them to take your actions as legislation to attack the Dīn. In short, the principle of Sadd-Adh-Dharā‘i’.
  4. Whatever good you send forth for the Hereafter, you will find it there safe and appreciated by Allāh.
  5. You shall never be able to please the Jews and the Christians unless you join them in their religion. 
  6. The relationship between Allāh and the Prophet ﷺ was immensely enviable. 
  7. Ṣabr (Patience) has great virtue: Allāh showers the patient with mercy and guidance.
  8. Eat ḥalāl
  9. Constantly ponder over the creation of Allāh and His blessings, and remember Him. 
  10. There are constant severe warnings for disbelief in the Qur’ān.  
  11.  The status of Shuhadā is indeed great. 
  12. Will should be made.  
  13. The aim of fasting is to create taqwā in the hearts of the believers.  
  14. Regularly make the following du‘ā, especially at the time of Ḥajj
  15.  رَبَّنَآ ءَاتِنَا فِى ٱلدُّنۡيَا حَسَنَةً۬ وَفِى ٱلۡأَخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً۬ وَقِنَا عَذَابَ ٱلنَّارِ 
  16. Enter into Islām in its totality; don’t pick and choose from the Dīn.  
  17. Allāh is ever ready to accept the du‘ās of His servants.  
  18. There are times when we say we are ready to do a certain thing but when that becomes binding on us, we back out. This is reprehensible behavior.
  19. The Help of Allāh will come, albeit sometimes belatedly.  
  20. Allāh does as He wishes; He is not accountable for His actions.  
  21. Spending: the do’s, don’ts, and virtues.
  22. Refrain from asking people for your needs; remain independent from the people, as special praise has been reserved for those who do, despite being in need.
  23. Stay away from interest, as Allāh declares war on those who deal in interest. 
  24. Loans should be written down and dealt with properly.  
  25. Allāh does not make obligatory upon us those things which we are incapable of carrying out. 

Recitation Benefits of Surah Fatiha:

  3. Recite Surah Fatiha 41 times with complete Bismillah every time between farz and sunnah of Fajar salat and blow on the patient who has any serious disease, and also blow on water and make him/her drink it, Insha’ALLAH, Patient will get Shifa. 
  4. Recite Surat Fatiha 7 times while holding head of the patient who have headache For headache, and repeat the verse no 4 (iyak anaubdu wa iyak anastaeen) thrice, every time and then blow. Insha’ALLAH, Patient will get Shifa.
  5. Another benefits of Surah Fatiha Recitation on first night of new moon with Bismillah every time, 30 times, it will avoid all the evils for the whole month, total Protection.
  6. Recite Surah Fatiha 100 times with Bismillah every time to fulfill any Hajat or wish.

بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

 

وَلِلۡمُطَلَّقَٰتِ مَتَٰعُۢ بِٱلۡمَعۡرُوفِۖ حَقًّا عَلَى ٱلۡمُتَّقِينَ

Transliteration:( Wa lilmutallaqaati mataa'um bilma'roofi haqqan 'alal muttaqeen )

241. And for the divorced women, a prescribed maintenance be made. This is obligatory on the God-fearing (598).

كَذَٰلِكَ يُبَيِّنُ ٱللَّهُ لَكُمۡ ءَايَٰتِهِۦ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تَعۡقِلُونَ

Transliteration:( Kazaalika yubaiyinul laahu lakum aayaatihee la'allakum ta'qiloon )

242. Thus, Allah makes clear to you His signs so that perhaps you may understand (599),

۞أَلَمۡ تَرَ إِلَى ٱلَّذِينَ خَرَجُواْ مِن دِيَٰرِهِمۡ وَهُمۡ أُلُوفٌ حَذَرَ ٱلۡمَوۡتِ فَقَالَ لَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ مُوتُواْ ثُمَّ أَحۡيَٰهُمۡۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَذُو فَضۡلٍ عَلَى ٱلنَّاسِ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكۡثَرَ ٱلنَّاسِ لَا يَشۡكُرُونَ

Transliteration:( Alam tara ilal lazeena kharajoo min diyaarihim wa hum uloofun hazaral mawti faqaaala lahumul laahu mootoo summa ahyaahum; innal laaha lazoo fadlin 'alannaasi wa laakinna aksarannaasi laa yashkuroon )

243.(O Beloved Prophet) Did you not observe those who went out of their homes (600) in their thousands, for fear of death?(601) Then, Allah said to them: "Die!" (602) Then He brought them (back) to life. Surely, Allah is Most Gracious to people (603), but most of the people are ungrateful.

وَقَٰتِلُواْ فِي سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ وَٱعۡلَمُوٓاْ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ سَمِيعٌ عَلِيمٞ

Transliteration:( Wa qaatiloo fee sabeelil laahi wa'lamooo annal laaha Samee'un 'Aleem )

244. And fight in the Way of Allah (604), and know that Allah is All-Hearing, All-Knowing.

مَّن ذَا ٱلَّذِي يُقۡرِضُ ٱللَّهَ قَرۡضًا حَسَنٗا فَيُضَٰعِفَهُۥ لَهُۥٓ أَضۡعَافٗا كَثِيرَةٗۚ وَٱللَّهُ يَقۡبِضُ وَيَبۡصُۜطُ وَإِلَيۡهِ تُرۡجَعُونَ

Transliteration:( Man zal lazee yuqridul laaha qardan hasanan fayudaa 'ifahoo lahoo ad'aafan kaseerah; wallaahu yaqbidu wa yabsutu wa ilaihi turja'oon )

245. Who is it that will loan(605) to Allah a good loan (606), so that Allah (607) may increase (608) it for him many times? And Allah scants and amplifies (609). And to Him you will have to return.

أَلَمۡ تَرَ إِلَى ٱلۡمَلَإِ مِنۢ بَنِيٓ إِسۡرَـٰٓءِيلَ مِنۢ بَعۡدِ مُوسَىٰٓ إِذۡ قَالُواْ لِنَبِيّٖ لَّهُمُ ٱبۡعَثۡ لَنَا مَلِكٗا نُّقَٰتِلۡ فِي سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِۖ قَالَ هَلۡ عَسَيۡتُمۡ إِن كُتِبَ عَلَيۡكُمُ ٱلۡقِتَالُ أَلَّا تُقَٰتِلُواْۖ قَالُواْ وَمَا لَنَآ أَلَّا نُقَٰتِلَ فِي سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ وَقَدۡ أُخۡرِجۡنَا مِن دِيَٰرِنَا وَأَبۡنَآئِنَاۖ فَلَمَّا كُتِبَ عَلَيۡهِمُ ٱلۡقِتَالُ تَوَلَّوۡاْ إِلَّا قَلِيلٗا مِّنۡهُمۡۚ وَٱللَّهُ عَلِيمُۢ بِٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ

Transliteration:( Alam tara ilal malai mim Baneee Israaa'eela mim ba'di Moosaaa iz qaaloo li Nabiyyil lahumub 'as lanaa malikan nuqaatil fee sabeelillaahi qaala hal 'asaitum in kutiba 'alaikumul qitaalu allaa tuqaatiloo qaaloo wa maa lanaaa allaa nuqaatila fee sabeelil laahi wa qad ukhrijnaa min diyaarinaa wa abnaaa'inaa falammaa kutiba 'alaihimul qitaalu tawallaw illaa qaleelam minhum; wallaahu 'aleemum bizzaalimeen )

246. (O Beloved Prophet) Did you not observe the group of the children of Israel after Musa?(610) When they spoke to a Prophet of theirs: “Appoint for us a king (611) so that we may fight in the path of Allah". He (the Prophet) said: "Maybe if the fighting were obligatory on you, you would not fight" (612). They said: "What has happened to us that we should not fight in the way of Allah, whereas we have been expelled from our homes and our children"(613). But, when fighting was made obligatory on them (614), they turned their faces away, except a few (615)of them. And Allah is All Knowing of the unjust.

وَقَالَ لَهُمۡ نَبِيُّهُمۡ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ قَدۡ بَعَثَ لَكُمۡ طَالُوتَ مَلِكٗاۚ قَالُوٓاْ أَنَّىٰ يَكُونُ لَهُ ٱلۡمُلۡكُ عَلَيۡنَا وَنَحۡنُ أَحَقُّ بِٱلۡمُلۡكِ مِنۡهُ وَلَمۡ يُؤۡتَ سَعَةٗ مِّنَ ٱلۡمَالِۚ قَالَ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ ٱصۡطَفَىٰهُ عَلَيۡكُمۡ وَزَادَهُۥ بَسۡطَةٗ فِي ٱلۡعِلۡمِ وَٱلۡجِسۡمِۖ وَٱللَّهُ يُؤۡتِي مُلۡكَهُۥ مَن يَشَآءُۚ وَٱللَّهُ وَٰسِعٌ عَلِيمٞ

Transliteration:( Wa qaala lahum Nabiy yuhum innal laaha qad ba'asa lakum Taaloota malikaa; qaalooo annaa yakoonu lahul mulku 'alainaa wa nahnu ahaqqu bilmulki minhu wa lam yu'ta sa'atamminal maal; qaala innallaahas tafaahu 'alaikum wa zaadahoo bastatan fil'ilmi waljismi wallaahu yu'tee mulkahoo mai yashaaa'; wallaahu Waasi'un 'Aleem )

247. And their Prophet said to them: "Surely, Allah has appointed Talut (Saul) (616) for you as a king. They said: "How can he have the right of kingship over us (617)? Whereas we are more entitled(618) for the kingship than he and he has not been given ample wealth". He (Talut) said: "Surely, Allah has chosen him (619)over you and has increased him (620) abundantly in knowledge and body. And Allah bestows His kingdom to whom He wills. And Allah is All-Encompass ing, All-Knowing.

وَقَالَ لَهُمۡ نَبِيُّهُمۡ إِنَّ ءَايَةَ مُلۡكِهِۦٓ أَن يَأۡتِيَكُمُ ٱلتَّابُوتُ فِيهِ سَكِينَةٞ مِّن رَّبِّكُمۡ وَبَقِيَّةٞ مِّمَّا تَرَكَ ءَالُ مُوسَىٰ وَءَالُ هَٰرُونَ تَحۡمِلُهُ ٱلۡمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُۚ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَةٗ لَّكُمۡ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤۡمِنِينَ

Transliteration:( Wa qaala lahum Nabiyyuhum inna Aayata mulkiheee ai yaatiyakumut Taabootu feehi sakeenatummir Rabbikum wa baqiyyatummimmaa taraka Aalu Moosa wa Aalu Haaroona tahmiluhul malaaa'ikah; inna fee zaalika la Aayatal lakum in kuntum mu'mineen )

248. And the Prophet said to them: "Surely, the sign of his kingship is that there would come to you an Ark (of the Covenant) (621) in which there is tranquillity of your heart from your Lord, and the good legacy left by the family of Musa and the family of Harun (622), carried by the angels. Surely, in that is a sign for you if you believe (623).

فَلَمَّا فَصَلَ طَالُوتُ بِٱلۡجُنُودِ قَالَ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ مُبۡتَلِيكُم بِنَهَرٖ فَمَن شَرِبَ مِنۡهُ فَلَيۡسَ مِنِّي وَمَن لَّمۡ يَطۡعَمۡهُ فَإِنَّهُۥ مِنِّيٓ إِلَّا مَنِ ٱغۡتَرَفَ غُرۡفَةَۢ بِيَدِهِۦۚ فَشَرِبُواْ مِنۡهُ إِلَّا قَلِيلٗا مِّنۡهُمۡۚ فَلَمَّا جَاوَزَهُۥ هُوَ وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ مَعَهُۥ قَالُواْ لَا طَاقَةَ لَنَا ٱلۡيَوۡمَ بِجَالُوتَ وَجُنُودِهِۦۚ قَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ يَظُنُّونَ أَنَّهُم مُّلَٰقُواْ ٱللَّهِ كَم مِّن فِئَةٖ قَلِيلَةٍ غَلَبَتۡ فِئَةٗ كَثِيرَةَۢ بِإِذۡنِ ٱللَّهِۗ وَٱللَّهُ مَعَ ٱلصَّـٰبِرِينَ

Transliteration:( Falammaa fasala Taalootu biljunoodi qaala innal laaha mubtaleekum binaharin faman shariba minhu falaisa minnee wa mallam yat'amhu fa innahoo minneee illaa manigh tarafa ghurfatam biyadih; fashariboo minhu illaa qaleelamminhum; falammaa jaawazahoo huwa wallazeena aamanoo ma'ahoo qaaloo laa taaqata lanal yawma bi Jaaloota wa junoodih; qaalallazeena yazunnoona annahum mulaaqul laahi kam min fi'atin qaleelatin ghalabat fi'atan kaseeratam bi iznil laah; wallaahuma'as saabireen )

249. Then when Talut left the city with his army he said: "Surely, Allah will test you (624) with a stream. Whoso drinks water from it is not of me (625) and whoso does not drink of it is mine (626), Except he who takes a sip with his hand (627). Yet, all drank of it except a few of them(628). When he (Talut) and the believers with him (629)crossed the stream, they said: "We have no power (630) against Jalut (Goliath) and his armies". Those who were sure to meet (631)Allah said: "That often a small party has triumphed over a large party by Allah's Command"(632). And, verily, Allah is with the steadfast (patient) (633).

وَلَمَّا بَرَزُواْ لِجَالُوتَ وَجُنُودِهِۦ قَالُواْ رَبَّنَآ أَفۡرِغۡ عَلَيۡنَا صَبۡرٗا وَثَبِّتۡ أَقۡدَامَنَا وَٱنصُرۡنَا عَلَى ٱلۡقَوۡمِ ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ

Transliteration:( Wa lammaa barazoo liJaaloota wa junoodihee qaaloo Rabbanaaa afrigh 'alainaa sabranw wa sabbit aqdaamanaa wansurnaa 'alal qawmil kaafireen )

250. And when they confronted Jalut and his armies, they submitted: "O our Lord! Pour upon us patience and keep our steps firm and help us against the disbelieving people" (634).
