Transliteration:( Wa laqad kazzabal lazeena min qablihim fakaifa kaana nakeer )
"And certainly, those before them rejected. Then how was My punishment [37]?"
This verse draws attention to the fate of those who rejected the message before the disbelievers being addressed here. Allah is reminding them of the punishment that befell previous nations, such as the people of Qarun (who was sunk into the earth) and the people of Lut (who were struck with heavenly stones). These punishments serve as a reminder of Allah's power and the consequences of rejecting His guidance.
The verse underscores that rejecting the truth leads to inevitable consequences, as seen from the fate of previous peoples, and serves as a warning for those who persist in disbelief.

(67:18) Those who came before them also gave the lie (to the Messengers): then how awesome was My chastisement![28]
28. The allusion is to the communities who had belied the Messengers, who had come to them previously and consequently been afflicted with divine punishment.
