The summary/theme of the surah al-‘ankabÅ«t: 

Muslims who are sincere are strengthened by this Surah, and those who are weak in their faith are admonished. During those days, some young men faced questions regarding Islam, and their parents encouraged them to return to their ancestral religion in place of Islam. This Surah also addresses these questions.

Lesson learned from  surah al-‘ankabÅ«t: 

  1. Do we think that we will be left alone without being tested on our Īmān? Being tested is inevitable.  
  2. Allāh gives parables and examples in the Qur’ān that only the knowledgeable understand.  
  3. á¹¢alāh performed properly will stop you from committing sins.  
  4. Every soul shall taste death  
  5. The life of the Hereafter is one worth living and anticipating.  
  6. Whoever strives in the way of Allāh, Allāh will guide him/her.

بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

 

يُعَذِّبُ مَن يَشَآءُ وَيَرۡحَمُ مَن يَشَآءُۖ وَإِلَيۡهِ تُقۡلَبُونَ
Transliteration:( Yu'azzibu many yashaaa'u wa yarhamu many yashaaa'; wa ilaihi tuqlaboon )

21. He torments whom he pleases (45) and shows mercy on whom He pleases, and you are to return only to him.

وَمَآ أَنتُم بِمُعۡجِزِينَ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَلَا فِي ٱلسَّمَآءِۖ وَمَا لَكُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ مِن وَلِيّٖ وَلَا نَصِيرٖ
Transliteration:( Wa maaa antum bimu'jizeena fil ardi wa laa fissamaaa'i wa maa lakum min doonil laahi minw waliyyinw wa laa naseer (section 2) )

22. And neither you can get out of the hold in the earth and nor in the heaven. (46) and neither you have any friend on need and nor any helper save Allah (47),

وَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ بِـَٔايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ وَلِقَآئِهِۦٓ أُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ يَئِسُواْ مِن رَّحۡمَتِي وَأُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ لَهُمۡ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٞ
Transliteration:( Wallazeena kafaroo bi Aayaatil laahi wa liqaaa'iheee ulaaa'ika ya'isoo mir rahmatee wa ulaaa'ika lahum 'azaabun aleem )

23. And those who believed not(48) in My signs and meeting with Me, It is they who have no hope of My mercy and for them is the painful torment.(49)

فَمَا كَانَ جَوَابَ قَوۡمِهِۦٓ إِلَّآ أَن قَالُواْ ٱقۡتُلُوهُ أَوۡ حَرِّقُوهُ فَأَنجَىٰهُ ٱللَّهُ مِنَ ٱلنَّارِۚ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَٰتٖ لِّقَوۡمٖ يُؤۡمِنُونَ
Transliteration:( Famaa kaana jawaaba qawmiheee illaaa an qaaluqtuloohu aw harriqoohu fa anjaahul laahu minan naar; inna fee zaalika la Aayaatil li qawminy yu'minoon )

24. Then his people could answer nothing but that they then Allah rescued him (50) from the fire (51),undoubtedly, in it surely are signs for the believers.(52)

وَقَالَ إِنَّمَا ٱتَّخَذۡتُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ أَوۡثَٰنٗا مَّوَدَّةَ بَيۡنِكُمۡ فِي ٱلۡحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنۡيَاۖ ثُمَّ يَوۡمَ ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِ يَكۡفُرُ بَعۡضُكُم بِبَعۡضٖ وَيَلۡعَنُ بَعۡضُكُم بَعۡضٗا وَمَأۡوَىٰكُمُ ٱلنَّارُ وَمَا لَكُم مِّن نَّـٰصِرِينَ
Transliteration:( Wa qaala innamat takhaz tum min doonil laahi awsaanam mawaddata bainikum fil hayaatid dunyaa summa Yawmal Qiyaamati yakfuru ba'dukum biba'dinw wa yal'anu ba'dukum ba'danw wa ma'waakumun Naaru wa maa lakum min naasireen )

25. And Ibrahim said. You have indeed taken besides Allah these idols with which your friendship is within the span of the life of the world (53). Then on the day of resurrection you will deny each other (54) and will curse each other( 55) And the abode of you all is the Hell (56) and you will have no helper.(57)

۞فَـَٔامَنَ لَهُۥ لُوطٞۘ وَقَالَ إِنِّي مُهَاجِرٌ إِلَىٰ رَبِّيٓۖ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلۡعَزِيزُ ٱلۡحَكِيمُ
Transliteration:( Fa aamana lahoo Loot; wa qaala innee muhajirun ilaa Rabbee innahoo Huwal 'Azeezul Hakeem )

26. Then Lut believed him (58). And Ibrahim said, ‘I migrate towards my Lord' (59). Undoubtedly, He is the Mighty and the Wise (60).

وَوَهَبۡنَا لَهُۥٓ إِسۡحَٰقَ وَيَعۡقُوبَ وَجَعَلۡنَا فِي ذُرِّيَّتِهِ ٱلنُّبُوَّةَ وَٱلۡكِتَٰبَ وَءَاتَيۡنَٰهُ أَجۡرَهُۥ فِي ٱلدُّنۡيَاۖ وَإِنَّهُۥ فِي ٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ لَمِنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ
Transliteration:( Wa wahabnaa lahoo Ishaaqa wa Ya'Qooba wa ja'alnaa fee zurriyyatihin Nubuwwata wal Kitaaba wa aatainaahu ajrahoo fid dunyaa wa innahoo fil aakhirati laminas saaliheen )

27. And We bestowed him Ishaaq and Ya'qub (61) and we put prophethood, and the Book (62) in his offspring, and We gave(63) him his reward in the world. And undoubtedly, in the Hereafter, he is amongst those who are worthy of our proximity (64).

وَلُوطًا إِذۡ قَالَ لِقَوۡمِهِۦٓ إِنَّكُمۡ لَتَأۡتُونَ ٱلۡفَٰحِشَةَ مَا سَبَقَكُم بِهَا مِنۡ أَحَدٖ مِّنَ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
Transliteration:( Wa Lootan iz qaala liqawmiheee innakum la ta'toonal faahishata maa sabaqakum bihaa min ahadin minal 'aalameen )

28.and when Lut said to his people (65), 'Undoubtedly you commit indecency which none among the entire world has done before you’ (66)

أَئِنَّكُمۡ لَتَأۡتُونَ ٱلرِّجَالَ وَتَقۡطَعُونَ ٱلسَّبِيلَ وَتَأۡتُونَ فِي نَادِيكُمُ ٱلۡمُنكَرَۖ فَمَا كَانَ جَوَابَ قَوۡمِهِۦٓ إِلَّآ أَن قَالُواْ ٱئۡتِنَا بِعَذَابِ ٱللَّهِ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَ
Transliteration:( A'innakum la ta'toonar rijaala wa taqta'oonas sabeela wa ta'toona fee naadeekumul munkara famaa kaana jawaaba qawmiheee illaaa an qaalu' tinaaa bi'azaabil laahi in kunta minas saadiqeen )

29. Do you commit unnatural with males and cut off the ways (67); and commit evil deeds in your assembly (68)! Then his people's answer was nothing, but that they said, 'bring upon us the torment of Allah if you are truthful’ (69)

قَالَ رَبِّ ٱنصُرۡنِي عَلَى ٱلۡقَوۡمِ ٱلۡمُفۡسِدِينَ
Transliteration:( Qaala Rabbin surnee 'alal qawmil mufsideen (section 3) )

30. He submitted, 'O my Lord, help me against these mischievous people’ (70)
