The summary/theme of the Surah Al-Isra

 The disbelievers of Makkah are admonished to take lessons from the miserable end of the Israelites and other communities and mend their ways from this Surah, which is a wonderful blend of warning, admonition, and instruction. In this Surah important event has been mentioned regarding the night journey of our Holy Prophet to the heavens and meeting with Allah

Lesson learned from Surah Al-Isra

  1. On the Day of Judgement, everyone shall be handed their book of deeds, which will have every minute detail of their lives recorded. They themselves will be able to envisage their outcome that day. 
  2. Whoever strives solely behind the luxuries of this world, Allāh will give them whatever He wishes to, not what they themselves want, and then doom them to Jahannam.
  3. Whoever strives to acquire the luxuries of the Hereafter properly, Allāh will appreciate his/her efforts. 
  4. Each person will be responsible for his/her own burdens on the Day of Qiyāmah; not for those of others.  
  5. Be good to parents.  
  6. Make this du‘ā regularly for your parents:

بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

 

وَلَقَدۡ صَرَّفۡنَا فِي هَٰذَا ٱلۡقُرۡءَانِ لِيَذَّكَّرُواْ وَمَا يَزِيدُهُمۡ إِلَّا نُفُورٗا
 Transliteration:( Wa laqad sarrafnaa fee haazal Quraani liyazzakkaroo wa maa yazeeduhum illaa nufooraa )

41. And no doubt, We explain in this Quran variedly that they understand (93). and nothing may increased in them by it but hatred (94).

قُل لَّوۡ كَانَ مَعَهُۥٓ ءَالِهَةٞ كَمَا يَقُولُونَ إِذٗا لَّٱبۡتَغَوۡاْ إِلَىٰ ذِي ٱلۡعَرۡشِ سَبِيلٗا
 Transliteration:( Qul law kaana ma'ahooo aalihatun kamaa yaqooloona izal labtaghaw ilaa zil 'Arshi Sabeela )

42. Say you, if there had been other gods with Him as they say, then they would have sought out any way towards the owner of the throne (95).

سُبۡحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ عَمَّا يَقُولُونَ عُلُوّٗا كَبِيرٗا
 Transliteration:( Subhaanahoo wa Ta'aalaa 'ammaa yaqooloona 'uluwwan kabeeraa )

43. Holy, and Exalted is He, He is high above what they say (96).

تُسَبِّحُ لَهُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتُ ٱلسَّبۡعُ وَٱلۡأَرۡضُ وَمَن فِيهِنَّۚ وَإِن مِّن شَيۡءٍ إِلَّا يُسَبِّحُ بِحَمۡدِهِۦ وَلَٰكِن لَّا تَفۡقَهُونَ تَسۡبِيحَهُمۡۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ حَلِيمًا غَفُورٗا
 Transliteration:( Tusabbihu lahus samaawaatus sab'u wal ardu wa man feehinn; wa im min shai'in illaa yusabbihu bihamdihee wa laakil laa tafqahoona tasbeehahum; innahoo kaana Haleeman Ghafooraa )

44. The seven heavens and the earth as well as whosoever is in it (97). speak of His Glory. And there is nothing, which does not speak of His Glory praising Him, yes you do not understand (98). their glorification. No doubt, He is the All-Forbearing and the All-Forgiving.

45. And O beloved! When you recited Qur`aan, we placed between you and those who do not believe(99), in the hereafter a hidden veil(100).

46. And we have put coverings (101), over their hearts lest they should understand it and in their ears is heaviness(102). And when you remember in QUR AAN your Lord alone, they run away turning their back hatefully (103).

47. We know well for they hear, when they put their ears (104), towards you and when they counsel together, when the unjust say, 'you follow not but such a man who has been enchanted (105).

48. See how they have profounded similitude's for you,(106), then they have gone astray that they cannot get away (107)
