    The summary/theme of the Surah Al-Isra

     The disbelievers of Makkah are admonished to take lessons from the miserable end of the Israelites and other communities and mend their ways from this Surah, which is a wonderful blend of warning, admonition, and instruction. In this Surah important event has been mentioned regarding the night journey of our Holy Prophet to the heavens and meeting with Allah

    Lesson learned from Surah Al-Isra

    1. On the Day of Judgement, everyone shall be handed their book of deeds, which will have every minute detail of their lives recorded. They themselves will be able to envisage their outcome that day. 
    2. Whoever strives solely behind the luxuries of this world, Allah's will give them whatever He wishes to, not what they themselves want, and then doom them to Jahannam.
    3. Whoever strives to acquire the luxuries of the Hereafter properly, Allah's will appreciate his/her efforts. 
    4. Each person will be responsible for his/her own burdens on the Day of Qiy'mah; not for those of others.  
    5. Be good to parents.

    بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

    وَلَا تَقۡتُلُوٓاْ أَوۡلَٰدَكُمۡ خَشۡيَةَ إِمۡلَٰقٖۖ نَّحۡنُ نَرۡزُقُهُمۡ وَإِيَّاكُمۡۚ إِنَّ قَتۡلَهُمۡ كَانَ خِطۡـٔٗا كَبِيرٗا

    Transliteration:( Wa laa taqtulooo awlaadakum khashyata imlaaqin nahnu narzuquhum wa iyyaakum; inna qatlahum kaana khit 'an kabeeraa )
    31. And do not kill your children for fear of poverty; We provide for them and for you. Indeed, killing them is a grave sin [73].

    وَلَا تَقۡرَبُواْ ٱلزِّنَىٰٓۖ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ فَٰحِشَةٗ وَسَآءَ سَبِيلٗا

    Transliteration:( Wa laa taqrabuz zinaaa innahoo kaana faahishatanw wa saaa'a sabeelaa )

    وَلَا تَقۡتُلُواْ ٱلنَّفۡسَ ٱلَّتِي حَرَّمَ ٱللَّهُ إِلَّا بِٱلۡحَقِّۗ وَمَن قُتِلَ مَظۡلُومٗا فَقَدۡ جَعَلۡنَا لِوَلِيِّهِۦ سُلۡطَٰنٗا فَلَا يُسۡرِف فِّي ٱلۡقَتۡلِۖ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ مَنصُورٗا

    Transliteration:( Wa laa taqtulun nafsal latee harramal laahu illaa bilhaqq; wa man qutila mazlooman faqad ja'alnaa liwaliyyihee sultaanan falaa yusrif fil qatli innahoo kaana mansooraa )
    33. And do not kill any soul [76] which Allah has forbidden except by right. And whosoever is killed unjustly, then We have indeed given authority to his heir [77], but he should not exceed the limits in killing [78]. Certainly, he is to be helped [79].

    وَلَا تَقۡرَبُواْ مَالَ ٱلۡيَتِيمِ إِلَّا بِٱلَّتِي هِيَ أَحۡسَنُ حَتَّىٰ يَبۡلُغَ أَشُدَّهُۥۚ وَأَوۡفُواْ بِٱلۡعَهۡدِۖ إِنَّ ٱلۡعَهۡدَ كَانَ مَسۡـُٔولٗا

    Transliteration:( Wa laa taqraboo maalal yateemi illaa billatee hiya ahsanu hattaa yablugha ashuddah; wa awfoo bil'ahd, innal 'ahda kaana mas'oolaa )
    34. And do not approach the property of the orphan [80], except in the best manner [81], until he reaches his maturity [82]. And fulfill the promise [83]; indeed, the promise will be questioned.

    وَأَوۡفُواْ ٱلۡكَيۡلَ إِذَا كِلۡتُمۡ وَزِنُواْ بِٱلۡقِسۡطَاسِ ٱلۡمُسۡتَقِيمِۚ ذَٰلِكَ خَيۡرٞ وَأَحۡسَنُ تَأۡوِيلٗا

    Transliteration:( Wa awful kaila izaa kiltum wa zinoo bilqistaasil mustaqeem; zaalika khairunw wa ahsanu ta'weelaa )
    35. And give full measure when you measure, and weigh with an even balance [84] . That is better and more favorable in the end.

    Transliteration:( Wa laa taqfu maa laisa laka bihee 'ilm; innas sam'a walbasara walfu'aada kullu ulaaa'ika kaana 'anhu mas'oolaa )
    36. And do not pursue that of which you have no knowledge [85]. Indeed, the hearing, the sight [86], and the heart—each of those will be questioned [87].

    37. And do not walk upon the earth with arrogance [88]. Indeed, you will never tear the earth apart, nor will you reach the mountains in height [89].

    ذَٰلِكَ مِمَّآ أَوۡحَىٰٓ إِلَيۡكَ رَبُّكَ مِنَ ٱلۡحِكۡمَةِۗ وَلَا تَجۡعَلۡ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ إِلَٰهًا ءَاخَرَ فَتُلۡقَىٰ فِي جَهَنَّمَ مَلُومٗا مَّدۡحُورًا

    39.This is of those revelations, which your Lord has sent to you with wisdom [90]. And do not put with Allah any other god, lest you will be thrown in Hell taunted, being banished [91].

    40. Has your Lord picked you for sons and has made for Himself daughters [92] from the Angels? No doubt, you speak that which is a grave saying.
