The summary/theme of the Surah Al-Isra

 The disbelievers of Makkah are admonished to take lessons from the miserable end of the Israelites and other communities and mend their ways from this Surah, which is a wonderful blend of warning, admonition, and instruction. In this Surah important event has been mentioned regarding the night journey of our Holy Prophet to the heavens and meeting with Allah

Lesson learned from Surah Al-Isra

  1. On the Day of Judgement, everyone shall be handed their book of deeds, which will have every minute detail of their lives recorded. They themselves will be able to envisage their outcome that day. 
  2. Whoever strives solely behind the luxuries of this world, Allāh will give them whatever He wishes to, not what they themselves want, and then doom them to Jahannam.
  3. Whoever strives to acquire the luxuries of the Hereafter properly, Allāh will appreciate his/her efforts. 
  4. Each person will be responsible for his/her own burdens on the Day of Qiyāmah; not for those of others.  
  5. Be good to parents.  
  6. Make this du‘ā regularly for your parents:

بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

 

أَوۡ تَكُونَ لَكَ جَنَّةٞ مِّن نَّخِيلٖ وَعِنَبٖ فَتُفَجِّرَ ٱلۡأَنۡهَٰرَ خِلَٰلَهَا تَفۡجِيرًا
 Transliteration:( Aw takoona laka jannatum min nakheelinw wa 'inabin fatufajjiral anhaara khilaalahaa tafjeeraa )

91. 'Or you have a garden of date palms and vines, then you cause springs to gush forth.

92. Or you may cause (190), the heavens to fall upon Us in pieces as you have asserted, or bring Allah and the Angels as surety' (191).

 Transliteration:( Aw yakoona laka baitum min zukhrufin aw tarqaa fis samaaa'i wa lan nu'mina liruqiyyika hatta tunazzila 'alainaa kitaaban naqra'uh; qul Subhaana Rabbee hal kuntu illaa basharar Rasoolaa (section 10) )

93. Or you have a house of gold or you ascend up in heaven and we shall never believe even after your ascending up until you send down to us a book that we may read (192), Say you, 'Glory be to my Lord, who am I, but a being sent by Allah' (193).

94. And what prevented (194), men from believing when the guidance came to them, but this that they said, 'Has Allah sent down a man as a messenger?' (195)

95. Say you, 'If there would have been angels in the earth walking about in peace (196), then We would have certainly sent down an angel as a Messenger to them (197).

96. Say you, 'Sufficient is Allah as a witness for me and you (198) undoubtedly He knows and sees His bondsman (199),

 Transliteration:( Wa mai yahdil laahu fahuwal muhtad; wa mai yudlil falan tajida lahum awliyaaa'a min doonih; wa nahshuruhum Yawmal Qiyaamati 'alaa wujoohihim umyanw wa bukmanw wa summaa; ma'waahum Jahannamu kullamaa khabat zidnaahum sa'eeraa )

97. And he whom Allah guides, he is on the straight path, and he whom He leads astray, then you will find no supporter for them but Him (200). And We shall raise them on the day of Resurrection on their faces, blind, dumb and deaf (201). Their abode is Hell. Whenever it will become to be extinguished, We shall make it to blow in flames vigorously' (202).

ذَٰلِكَ جَزَآؤُهُم بِأَنَّهُمۡ كَفَرُواْ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا وَقَالُوٓاْ أَءِذَا كُنَّا عِظَٰمٗا وَرُفَٰتًا أَءِنَّا لَمَبۡعُوثُونَ خَلۡقٗا جَدِيدًا
 Transliteration:( Zaalika jazaa'uhum bi annahum kafaroo bi aayaatinaa wa qaalooo 'a izaa kunnaa 'izaamanw wa rufaatan 'a innaa la mab'oosoona khalqan jadeedaa )

98. This is their punishment because they rejected (203), Our signs and said, 'When shall we become bones and broken particles, then shall we really be raised up as a new creation?' (204).

۞أَوَلَمۡ يَرَوۡاْ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ ٱلَّذِي خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ قَادِرٌ عَلَىٰٓ أَن يَخۡلُقَ مِثۡلَهُمۡ وَجَعَلَ لَهُمۡ أَجَلٗا لَّا رَيۡبَ فِيهِ فَأَبَى ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ إِلَّا كُفُورٗا
 Transliteration:( Awalam yaraw annal laahal lazee khalaqas samaawaati wal arda qaadirun 'alaaa any yakhluqa mislahum wa ja'ala lahum ajalal laa raiba fee; fa abaz zaalimoona illaa kufooraa )

99. And whether they see not that Allah made the heavens and the earth (205), that He can make the like (206), of them, and He has appointed for them a term in which there is no doubt (207). But the unjust refuse to accept but they are ungrateful.

 Transliteration:( Qul law antum tamlikoona khazaaa'ina rahmati Rabbeee izal la amsaktum khash yatal infaaq; wa kaanal insaanu qatooraa (section 11) )

100. Say you, 'If you had been the owners of the treasures of the mercy of my Lord, you would have surely held it back because of fear of spending (208). And man is a great miser (209)
