The Summary/Theme of the Surah al-ma’idah

 A brief commentary of Chapter 5 of the Quran. It discusses food, hunting, the pledges made by the Jews and Christians, the afterlife, and the feast of Jesus.

Lessons Learned from  Surah al-ma’idah

  1. Honour your contracts and promises.  
  2. Islām is the perfect and complete religion.  
  3. Sometimes, when instructing people to do something that they may find difficult, explain yourself to them.  
  4. You will always continue to hear of various deceptions from the majority of Jews.  
  5. Mūsā عليه السلام had a very difficult task in handling the Banū Isrā’īl; one that he accomplished successfully. The Prophet ﷺ  acknowledged this also when he said, “May Allāh have mercy on Mūsā! Indeed he was caused much more difficulty than this, but he remained patient.” (Al-Bukhārī)  
  6. The rebels are to be administered severe punishment for their crimes.  
  7. Whoever Allāh wishes to lead astray, even a Prophet cannot help them in any way. Therefore, we should always ask Allāh for guidance and steadfastness. 
  8. The disbelievers on the Day of Judgment will try their utmost to free themselves from the punishment of Jahannam, all in vain.[4]  
  9. Some people are so evil at heart, that clear revelation from Allāh drives them further in their mischief and disbelief, instead of bringing them closer.
  10. Despite all the blasphemy of the Jews, Allāh is still willing to forgive them if they turn to Him in sincere repentance.  
  11. Fulfil your oaths.  
  12. Shayṭān tries creating disunity and enmity between Muslims through sins: especially intoxicants and gambling, together with causing neglect in remembering Allāh.  
  13. Despite being Forgiving and Merciful, Allāh is also severe in punishment. 

Recitation benefits of surah al-ma’idah

  1. Recite Ayah No.54 of Surat Al Maidah on sweet for love between family.
  2. Daily recitation of Surat Maidah is to seek Forgiveness from ALLAH.
  3. Recite Ayah 114 of Surah Al Maidah, 11 times every hour. Recite it with Durood Sharif 11 times in the beginning and in the end. Then blow toward the sky, praying in mind for Rizq. If you do this amal with full concentration regularly, you will be showered with Rizq.
  4. Recites Surah Maidah on every Thursday, you would remain safe from wrong doing and would not associate any partner with Allah.
  5. Whoever recites this surat Maidah Allah adds ten good deeds and conceals ten evil deeds and his position near Allah goes up ten times more than what he deserves.

بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

 

وَإِذۡ أَوۡحَيۡتُ إِلَى ٱلۡحَوَارِيِّـۧنَ أَنۡ ءَامِنُواْ بِي وَبِرَسُولِي قَالُوٓاْ ءَامَنَّا وَٱشۡهَدۡ بِأَنَّنَا مُسۡلِمُونَ
Transliteration:( Wa iz awhaitu ilal hawaariyyeena an aaminoo bee wa bi Rasoolee qaalooo aamannaa washhad bi annanaa muslimoon )

111. And when I inspired in the hearts of the disciples (305), to believe in Me and in My Messenger, they said: "We have belived and you bear witness that we are Muslims (306)"

إِذۡ قَالَ ٱلۡحَوَارِيُّونَ يَٰعِيسَى ٱبۡنَ مَرۡيَمَ هَلۡ يَسۡتَطِيعُ رَبُّكَ أَن يُنَزِّلَ عَلَيۡنَا مَآئِدَةٗ مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِۖ قَالَ ٱتَّقُواْ ٱللَّهَ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤۡمِنِينَ
Transliteration:( Iz qaalal hawaariyyoona yaa 'Eesab na Maryama hal yastatee'u Rabbuka ai yunaz zila alainna maaa'idatam minas samaaa'i qaalat taqul laaha in kuntum mu'mineen )

112.When the disciples said (307): "O Isa, son of Mariam, is your Lord able us To send down Upon from heaven a table full of food?" (308), He said: "Fear Allah if you have faith (309)"

قَالُواْ نُرِيدُ أَن نَّأۡكُلَ مِنۡهَا وَتَطۡمَئِنَّ قُلُوبُنَا وَنَعۡلَمَ أَن قَدۡ صَدَقۡتَنَا وَنَكُونَ عَلَيۡهَا مِنَ ٱلشَّـٰهِدِينَ
Transliteration:( Qaaloo nureedu an naakula minhaa wa tatama 'inna quloo bunaa wa na'lama an qad sadaqtana wa nakoona 'alaihaa minash shaahideen )

113. They said: "We desire that we should eat of it and our hearts (310), may be satisfied and we may see with our own eyes that you spoke the Truth to us and we may become witness thereof (311)",

قَالَ عِيسَى ٱبۡنُ مَرۡيَمَ ٱللَّهُمَّ رَبَّنَآ أَنزِلۡ عَلَيۡنَا مَآئِدَةٗ مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ تَكُونُ لَنَا عِيدٗا لِّأَوَّلِنَا وَءَاخِرِنَا وَءَايَةٗ مِّنكَۖ وَٱرۡزُقۡنَا وَأَنتَ خَيۡرُ ٱلرَّـٰزِقِينَ
Transliteration:( Qaala 'Eesab nu Maryamal laahumma Rabbanaaa anzil 'alainaa maaa'idatam minas samaaa'i takoonu lanaa 'eedal li awwalinaa wa aakhirinaa wa Aayatam minka warzuqnaa wa Anta khairur raaziqeen )

114. Isa, son of Mariam, said: "O Allah, our Lord! Send to us a table full of food from heaven, so that it may be an occasion of rejoicing for us, the first and the last of us (312), and a sign from You. And provide for us, and You are the Best of Providers (313)",

قَالَ ٱللَّهُ إِنِّي مُنَزِّلُهَا عَلَيۡكُمۡۖ فَمَن يَكۡفُرۡ بَعۡدُ مِنكُمۡ فَإِنِّيٓ أُعَذِّبُهُۥ عَذَابٗا لَّآ أُعَذِّبُهُۥٓ أَحَدٗا مِّنَ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
Transliteration:( Qaalal laahu innee munaz ziluhaa 'alaikum famai yakfur ba'du minkum fa inneee u'azzibuhoo 'azaabal laaa u'azzibuhooo ahadam minal 'aalameen )

115. Allah said: "I am sending it down to you, but if any of you disbelieve(314), thereafter, then surely I shall punish him with such a punishment which I had never awarded to anyone else in the universe (315)"

وَإِذۡ قَالَ ٱللَّهُ يَٰعِيسَى ٱبۡنَ مَرۡيَمَ ءَأَنتَ قُلۡتَ لِلنَّاسِ ٱتَّخِذُونِي وَأُمِّيَ إِلَٰهَيۡنِ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِۖ قَالَ سُبۡحَٰنَكَ مَا يَكُونُ لِيٓ أَنۡ أَقُولَ مَا لَيۡسَ لِي بِحَقٍّۚ إِن كُنتُ قُلۡتُهُۥ فَقَدۡ عَلِمۡتَهُۥۚ تَعۡلَمُ مَا فِي نَفۡسِي وَلَآ أَعۡلَمُ مَا فِي نَفۡسِكَۚ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ عَلَّـٰمُ ٱلۡغُيُوبِ
Transliteration:( Wa iz qaalal laahu yaa 'Eesab na Maryama 'a-anta qulta linnaasit takhizoonee wa ummiya ilaahaini min doonil laahi qaala Subhaanaka maa yakoonu leee an aqoola maa laisa lee bihaqq; in kuntu qultuhoo faqad 'alimtah; ta'lamu maa fee nafsee wa laaa a'alamu maa fee nafsik; innaka Anta 'Allaamul Ghuyoob )

116. And when Allah will say: "O Isa, son of Mariam! Did you tell the people (316): "Make me and my mother two gods besides Allah? He will submit: "You are Holy. It was not me who could say so about which I have no (317), reach. If I had said that, You would surely have known it. You know what is in my heart, and I do not know what is in Your Knowledge (318). Surely, only You are the Knower of the Unseen".

مَا قُلۡتُ لَهُمۡ إِلَّا مَآ أَمَرۡتَنِي بِهِۦٓ أَنِ ٱعۡبُدُواْ ٱللَّهَ رَبِّي وَرَبَّكُمۡۚ وَكُنتُ عَلَيۡهِمۡ شَهِيدٗا مَّا دُمۡتُ فِيهِمۡۖ فَلَمَّا تَوَفَّيۡتَنِي كُنتَ أَنتَ ٱلرَّقِيبَ عَلَيۡهِمۡۚ وَأَنتَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيۡءٖ شَهِيدٌ
Transliteration:( Maa qultu lahum illaa maaa amartanee bihee ani'budul laaha Rabbeee wa Rabbakum; wa kuntu 'alaihim shaheedam maa dumtu feehim falammaa tawaffaitanee kunta Antar Raqeeba 'alaihim; wa Anta 'alaa kulli shai'in Shaheed )

117."I did not say to them anything except that which You had commanded me (319), that worship Allah my Lord and your Lord (320) And I was a witness over them so long as I remained among them. Then when You took me up, then You were the Watcher (321), over them, and everything is present before You (322)"

إِن تُعَذِّبۡهُمۡ فَإِنَّهُمۡ عِبَادُكَۖ وَإِن تَغۡفِرۡ لَهُمۡ فَإِنَّكَ أَنتَ ٱلۡعَزِيزُ ٱلۡحَكِيمُ
Transliteration:( In tu'azzibhum fa innahum ibaaduka wa in taghfir lahum fa innaka Antal 'Azzezul Hakeem )

118."If you punish them, they are. Your bondsmen (323), and if You forgive them, then surely You are Mighty, the Wise (324)",

قَالَ ٱللَّهُ هَٰذَا يَوۡمُ يَنفَعُ ٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَ صِدۡقُهُمۡۚ لَهُمۡ جَنَّـٰتٞ تَجۡرِي مِن تَحۡتِهَا ٱلۡأَنۡهَٰرُ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَآ أَبَدٗاۖ رَّضِيَ ٱللَّهُ عَنۡهُمۡ وَرَضُواْ عَنۡهُۚ ذَٰلِكَ ٱلۡفَوۡزُ ٱلۡعَظِيمُ
Transliteration:( Qaalal laahu haaza yawmu yanfa'us saadiqeena sidquhum; lahum janaatunn tajree min tahtihal anhaaru khaalideena feehaaa abadaa; radiyal laahu 'anhum wa radoo 'anh; zaalikal fawzul 'azeem )

119. Allah said: "This is the day when the truth will (325), benefit the truthful". For them are gardens (326), beneath which rivers flow. They shall abide therein forever. Allah is pleased (327), with them and they are pleased with Allah. This is the greatest success (328).

لِلَّهِ مُلۡكُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَمَا فِيهِنَّۚ وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيۡءٖ قَدِيرُۢ
Transliteration:( Lillaahi mulkus samaawaati wal ardi wa maa feehinn; wa Huwa 'alaa kulli shai'inn Qadeer )

120. To Allah belongs the kingdom (329), of the heavens and the earth and whatever is in them. And He has Power over everything (330),
