Al-Qasas (Arabic: القصص, ’al-qaṣaṣ; meaning: The Story) is the 28th chapter (sūrah) of the Qur'an with 88 verses (āyāt).

The summary/theme of the surah Al-Qasas:

 The revelation of surah Qasas was intended to give the promise of victory to those believers who were a minority before migrating from Mecca to Medina and endured the most difficult conditions at the time of the Prophet.

Lesson learned from surah Al-Qasas:

  1. If Allāh wants something doing, His plans for it are meticulous.  
  2. You cannot give hidāyah (guidance) to whomsoever you love and wish to; it is only Allāh that gives hidāyah.  
  3. Allāh knows what the chests conceal and what they expose.  
  4. If Allāh was to cause persistent daylight, there is no power that can cause nightfall.  
  5. If Allāh was to cause persistent nightfall, there is no power besides Him that can bring daylight.  
  6. Do not become exceedingly happy; Allāh doesn’t like such people.

بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

 

وَجَعَلۡنَٰهُمۡ أَئِمَّةٗ يَدۡعُونَ إِلَى ٱلنَّارِۖ وَيَوۡمَ ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِ لَا يُنصَرُونَ
 Transliteration:( Wa ja'alnaahum a'immatany yad'oona ilan Naari wa Yawmal Qiyaamati laa yunsaroon )

41. And we made them leaders of the people of Hell that they call towards the Fire (112) and they shall not be helped on the Day of Resurrection.

 Transliteration:( Wa laqad aatainaa Moosal Kitaaba mim ba'di maaa ahlaknal quroonal oolaa basaaa'ira linnaasi wa hudanw wa rahmatal la'allahum yata zakkkaroon )

43. And undoubtedly, We gave a Book to Musa after We had destroyed earlier generation(115), in which there are evident arguments for the people and guidance and mercy so that they may accept admonition.(116)

45. But it so happened that we produced generations and a very long period (119) passed over them, and neither you were a dweller among the people of Median, reciting Our sign to them, yes We became the Sender of messenger, (120)

وَمَا كُنتَ بِجَانِبِ ٱلطُّورِ إِذۡ نَادَيۡنَا وَلَٰكِن رَّحۡمَةٗ مِّن رَّبِّكَ لِتُنذِرَ قَوۡمٗا مَّآ أَتَىٰهُم مِّن نَّذِيرٖ مِّن قَبۡلِكَ لَعَلَّهُمۡ يَتَذَكَّرُونَ
 Transliteration:( Wa maa kunta bijaanibit Toori iz naadainaa wa laakir rahmatam mir Rabbika litunzira qawmam maaa ataahum min nazeerim min qablika la'allahum yatazakkaroon )

46. And nor you were at the side of Tur, when called (121), yes it is the mercy from your Lord (He gave you the Knowledge of the Unseen) that you may warn a people to whom no warner came before you, (122) perhaps they may be admonished.

47. And had it not so happened if any calamity would have touched them for what their hands have sent before(123), they would say O our Lord, why did you not send any Messenger towards us that we might have followed your signs (124) might have believed(125)

فَلَمَّا جَآءَهُمُ ٱلۡحَقُّ مِنۡ عِندِنَا قَالُواْ لَوۡلَآ أُوتِيَ مِثۡلَ مَآ أُوتِيَ مُوسَىٰٓۚ أَوَلَمۡ يَكۡفُرُواْ بِمَآ أُوتِيَ مُوسَىٰ مِن قَبۡلُۖ قَالُواْ سِحۡرَانِ تَظَٰهَرَا وَقَالُوٓاْ إِنَّا بِكُلّٖ كَٰفِرُونَ
 Transliteration:( Falammaa jaaa'ahumul haqqu min 'indinaa qaaloo law laa ootiya misla maaa ootiyaa Moosaa; awalam yakfuroo bimaaa ootiya Moosaa min qablu qaaloo sihraani tazaaharaa wa qaalooo innaa bikullin kaafiroon )

48. Then when the truth came (126) to them from Us, they said, why they were not given (127) the like of what was given to Musa (128)? Had they not rejected what was given to Musa before(129) They said, two magic's supporting each other, and they said we are rejecters of all the two (130).

49. Say you,' bring them any book from Allah which is a better guide (131) than these two, I shall follow it, if you are truthful,' (132)

فَإِن لَّمۡ يَسۡتَجِيبُواْ لَكَ فَٱعۡلَمۡ أَنَّمَا يَتَّبِعُونَ أَهۡوَآءَهُمۡۚ وَمَنۡ أَضَلُّ مِمَّنِ ٱتَّبَعَ هَوَىٰهُ بِغَيۡرِ هُدٗى مِّنَ ٱللَّهِۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَهۡدِي ٱلۡقَوۡمَ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
 Transliteration:( Fa il lam yastajeeboo laka fa'lam annamaa yattabi'oona ahwaaa'ahum; wa man adallu mimmanit taba'a hawaahu bighari hudam minal laah; innal laaha laa yahdil qawmaz zaalimeen (section 5) )

50. Then if they accept not your saying, know you that they only follow their own desire (133). And who is more astray than one who follows his own desires separates the guidance of Allah (134). Undoubtedly Allah guides not unjust people.
