📖 Commentary of Surah Al-Baqarah – Verse 110

"And establish Prayer and pay Zakaat [217]. Whatever good you send forward for yourselves, you will find it with Allah [218]. Indeed, Allah is seeing over what you do [219]."

✅ [217] Superiority of Salaah Over Zakaat

This verse hints at the superiority of Salaah (prayer) over Zakaat because Salaah is mentioned first.

All the laws of Shari’ah were revealed on earth, but Salaah was gifted in the heavens to the Holy Prophet ﷺ during Me’raj (the Night of Ascension).

🕋 Salaah is indeed a cherished gift from Allah to His servant — a direct spiritual connection with the Divine.

✅ [218] The Return of Good Deeds in the Hereafter

This verse suggests that whatever good you perform in this world, you will see it before you on the Day of Judgement — either as a direct reward, or something equal or better.

📖 In the Hadith, it is mentioned that on the Day of Judgment, all good deeds will appear in a beautiful form in front of the person who did them — a source of comfort and joy.

✅ [219] The Lasting Impact of Deeds and Divine Observation

This verse indicates that only the deeds performed during one’s lifetime will be rewarded.

After death, certain pious souls are engaged in Zikrullah (remembrance of Allah) and recitation of the Qur’an, but these posthumous acts hold no new reward unless the deeds were initiated during one’s life.

Examples of continuous reward (Sadqa-e-Jariyah):

  • Building a mosque

  • Establishing a Madrasah

  • Publishing beneficial knowledge

📌 The benefits of such deeds are eternal, because they were initiated in life and continue to benefit others after death.

Regarding the reward of virtuous acts being conveyed to the deceased, although the pious in their graves engage in remembrance, the living can earn reward and gift it to the souls of the deceased — a well-established practice.
