"Were you present when death came to Yaqub [266] and he asked his sons, 'What will you worship after me?' They replied, 'We will worship your God and the God of your forefathers, Ibrahim, Ismail, and Ishaq—One God [267], and to Him we submit.'"
The Yahud (Jews) would boastfully claim that Hazrat Yaqub (AS) had commanded his sons to follow Judaism.
To discredit this false claim, Allah revealed this verse showing that Yaqub (AS) enjoined his sons to:
Worship the One True God,
The same Lord of Ibrahim, Ismail, and Ishaq,
And remain firm on Tawheed (monotheism), not any specific ethnicity-based religion
🧠 This verse also highlights important life lessons:
A father’s most vital concern is the faith and future of his children
Religion is the most precious legacy a parent can leave
Without true Imaan, even being a Prophet’s child is of no value
This verse confirms that:
The One True Lord is the God of the Prophets — the Lord of Ibrahim, Ismail, and Ishaq
These Prophets are living proofs of Allah’s existence and attributes
📌 Thus, the true religion is the one that was practised by these noble Prophets and saints, and the true Lord is He in Whom they believed.
🕊️ Real submission means to follow their path, both in belief and in practice.
