Transliteration:( Wa aqeemus salaata wa aatuz zakaata warka'oo ma'ar raaki'een )
"And establish Prayer [83] and give Zakat and bow with those who bow (in worship and obedience). [84]"
This verse highlights several key teachings:
Salah (prayer) is not just more virtuous than Zakat, but it holds priority as the foremost pillar of Islam after faith.
The emphasis is on the establishment of Salah—not mere performance—meaning it must be offered regularly, correctly, and with devotion.
A true believer is expected to combine physical worship (Salah) and monetary responsibility (Zakat), fulfilling both dimensions of servitude.
The command to "bow with those who bow" points to the importance of performing Salah in congregation.
This has several implications:
Congregational Salah holds greater reward and is highly recommended in Islamic tradition.
The verse hints that joining the Imam in Ruku secures one’s participation in that rak’ah, even if earlier parts were missed.
Additionally, it conveys a hopeful message: if one person’s prayer is accepted in the congregation, then everyone's Salah may be accepted, by Allah’s mercy.
This verse stresses both individual responsibility and communal unity in worship.

(2:43) Establish Prayer and dispense Zakah (the Purifying Alms)[59] and bow in worship with those who bow.
59. Prayer and Purifying Alms (Zakah) have always been among the most important pillars of the Islamic faith. Like other Prophets, the Prophets of Israel laid great stress upon them. The Jews had, however, become very negligent about these duties. Congregational Prayer had all but ceased among them; in fact, a great majority of the Jews did not perform Prayers even individually. They had also not only ceased to pay Purifying Alms, but some had even gone so far as to make their living out of interest.
[24]- An annual expenditure for the benefit of the Islāmic community (see 9:60) required of those Muslims who have excess wealth. Prayer and zakāh are among the pillars of Islām.
