Transliteration:( Wa laqad jaaa'akum Moosa bilbaiyinaati summat takhaztumul 'ijla mim ba'dihee wa antum zaalimoon )
"And surely Musa came to you with clear proofs. Then you took the calf (in worship) [175] after him, while you were indeed unjust. [176]"
From this verse, we learn that the calf worship of the Israelites is the origin of the later cow worship seen among the Hindus.
Therefore, it is completely unlawful for Muslims to:
Revere cows,
Respect any symbols of idol worship,
Or honor the religious customs or holy days of disbelievers.
Doing so is considered tashabbuh (resemblance) with non-believers, which is strictly forbidden in Islam.
The Israelites are firmly condemned in this verse for their infidelity towards Hazrat Musa (عليه السلام).
Even after witnessing great miracles, such as the Shining Hand, they resorted to idol worship by taking the calf as their god.
This shows the depth of their spiritual betrayal, and Allah describes them as “unjust”—having wronged not only Musa (عليه السلام), but also themselves and the truth.
