Quran Quote  :

Quran-2:5 Surah Al-baqarah English Translation,Transliteration and Tafsir(Tafseer).

أُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ عَلَىٰ هُدٗى مِّن رَّبِّهِمۡۖ وَأُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلۡمُفۡلِحُونَ

Transliteration:( Ulaaa'ika 'alaa hudam mir rabbihim wa ulaaa'ika humul muflihoon )

5. They alone are on the guidance from their Lord and they are to attain success. (18)

Surah Al-Baqarah Ayat 5 Tafsir (Commentry)

  • Tafseer-e-Naeemi (Ahmad Yaar Khan)
  • Ibn Kathir
  • Ala-Madudi

18. From this it is understood that permanent guidance is bestowed upon a person through the Grace of Allah and not as a result of his personal endeavours. Also, if such a person is guided by Allah then only will he remain steadfast on it, for a person on a mere temporary guidance can go astray. This verse further illustrates that material wealth and honour are not the true means of success, true success is to receive guidance and the will to do good deeds. Allah says in the QUR'AAN "Undoubtedly he attained to his goal who is purified' (himself) (S 87: V14).

Ibn-Kathir

5. They are on guidance from their Lord, and they are the successful.

Guidance and Success are awarded to the Believers

Allah said,

﴿أُوْلَـئِكَ﴾

(They are) refers to those who believe in the Unseen, establish the prayer, spend from what Allah has granted them, believe in what Allah has revealed to the Messenger and the Messengers before him, believe in the Hereafter with certainty, and prepare the necessary requirements for the Hereafter by performing good deeds and avoiding the prohibitions. Allah then said,

﴿عَلَى هُدًى﴾

(On guidance) meaning, they are (following) a light, guidance, and have insight from Allah,

﴿وَأُوْلَـئِكَ هُمُ الْمُفْلِحُونَ﴾

(And they are the successful) meaning, in this world and the Hereafter. They shall have what they seek and be saved from the evil that they tried to avoid. Therefore, they will have rewards, eternal life in Paradise, and safety from the torment that Allah has prepared for His enemies.

(2:5) Such are on true guidance from their Lord; such are the truly successful.
