Transliteration:( Allaahu laaa ilaaha illaa huwa la yajma'annakum ilaa Yawmil Qiyaamati laa raiba feeh; wa man asdaqu min allaahi hadeesaa )
“Allah is, besides Whom there is none to be worshipped. And He will certainly assemble you together on the Day of Resurrection, of which there is no doubt. And who is more truthful in his word than Allah [274].”
From this, one learns that lies in respect of Allah Almighty is an impossibility of personality—meaning, it is absolutely impossible for Allah to lie, as it contradicts His perfect and eternal nature.
Whereas in the case of the Prophets ﷺ, lies are an impossibility of non-person—meaning they are protected (ma‘soom) from lying, though not by their own essence but by divine safeguarding.
Since Allah Almighty surpasses all creation in truthfulness, His truth must be seen as inherently and eternally binding with His divine essence.
Otherwise, it would blur the line between the truth of Allah and that of even the Prophet ﷺ, whose truthfulness, though perfect, is a divine attribute bestowed, not essential.
Thus, Allah’s statement is the highest standard of truth, and His promise of the Day of Resurrection is undeniable and certain.
The tafsir of Surah Nisa verse 87 by Ibn Kathir is unavailable here.
Please refer to Surah Nisa ayat 84 which provides the complete commentary from verse 84 through 87.
(4:87) There is no god but Allah. He will certainly gather you all together on the Day of Resurrection – the Day regarding which there can be no doubt. Whose word can be truer than Allah’s?[115]
115.Whatever the unbelievers, polytheists and atheists may do does not impair God’s godhead. That God is the One and Absolute Lord of all is a fact which none can alter. And a Day will come when He will gather together all human beings and will make them see the consequences of their deeds, and no one will be in a position to escape His retribution. God therefore does not require His good creatures to maltreat, on His behalf, those who are lost in error. This is the link between the present verse and the one preceding it. The same verse also concludes the theme running through the last twenty verses or so (see verses 71 ff). The present verse outlines that a man can follow whichever course he deems fit, and expend his energy in any direction he likes, but ultimately all men will have to stand before the One True God for His judgement and will see the consequences of their deeds.
