قَالَ يَـٰٓإِبۡلِيسُ مَا لَكَ أَلَّا تَكُونَ مَعَ ٱلسَّـٰجِدِينَ

Transliteration:( Qaala yaaa Ibleesu maa laka allaa takoona ma'as saajideen )

32. Allah said, "O Iblis, what prevented you from being among those who prostrate [39]?" (Kanzul Imaan Translation)

(32) [Allāh] said, "O Iblees, what is [the matter] with you that you are not with those who prostrate?" (Saheen International Translation)

📖 Commentary of Surah Al-Hijr – Verse 32

Allah said, "O Iblis, what prevented you from being among those who prostrate [39]?"

✅ [39] The Question to Iblis

This question was for the expression of reprimand and anger and not for the purpose of inquiry. This tells us that there can be many reasons for asking a question, and in this case, it was to highlight Iblis' disobedience and refusal to follow the command of Allah Almighty.
