Transliteration:( Wa anna 'azaabee huwal 'azaabul aleem )
And that My torment is the most painful torment [58].
Once, the Holy Prophet ﷺ passed by a group of his Noble Companions who were laughing among themselves. Seeing this, he asked them why they were laughing. Upon hearing this reprimand, the companions became scared. This verse was revealed on that occasion (Tafseer Roohul Bayaan).
From this, we learn that the foundation of faith is built on both hope and fear of Allah Almighty. Hope for His mercy and fear of His punishment are both essential components of a believer's life.
