Quran Quote  :

Quran-6:114 Surah Al-anam English Translation,Transliteration and Tafsir(Tafseer).

Transliteration:( Afaghairal laahi abtaghee hakamanw wa Huwal lazee anzala ilaikumul Kitaaba mufassalaa; wallazeena atai naahumul Kitaaba ya'lamoona annahoo munazzalum mir Rabbika bilhaqqi falaa takoonanna minal mumtareen )

114. Then shall I seek the judgement (247), of someone other than Allah, when it is He Who has revealed towards you this detailed Book? (248), And those whom We have given the Book (249), know that it is revealed by your Lord in truth. So (O listener) then never be of those who doubt (250).

Surah Al-Anam Ayat 114 Tafsir (Commentry)

  • Tafseer-e-Naeemi (Ahmad Yaar Khan)
  • Ibn Kathir
  • Ala-Madudi

247. He makes it clear that in respect of religious orders no advice should be sought nor make anyone an arbiter. Counselling and arbitration are necessary in those matters which are not decided by religious decrees. You can seek advice and counselling in matters of your children's marriage but not in matters of Salaah and Fasting.

248. Reason for its Revelation:

The infidels of Makkah had suggested to that the Holy Prophet صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم we should accept the Christian and Jewish priests as our arbiters who would decide, who from us is on the path of truth. Their aim was to bribe these priests to give their decision in their favour. This verse was revealed on this occasion. From this, we learn that it is correct to say that Oh infidels! the Holy Quraan had come to you as well, because it has come for their guidance as well.

249. By this meant that Allah Almighty had given them the true understanding of the Heavenly Books such as people like Hazrat Abdullah ibn Salaam, etc. Or it could also mean that all the learned Alims of the People of the Book accept the Holy Prophet as a true Prophet but due to some ulterior motives do not publicly acknowledge this.

250. The truth of the matter is that those popes and priests whom these infidels are desiring to be their arbitrators are themselves accepting the as a true Holy Prophet Prophet in their hearts, though outwardly they are engaged in opposing him, or may oppose him in the future.

Ibn-Kathir

114. ﴿Say:﴾ “Shall I seek a judge other than Allah while it is He Who has sent down unto you the Book, explained in detail.” Those unto whom We gave the Scripture know that it is revealed from your Lord in truth. So be not you of those who doubt. 115. And the Word of your Lord has been fulfilled in truth and in justice. None can change His Words. And He is the All-Hearer, the All-Knower.) Allah tells His Prophet to say to these polytheists who worship others besides Allah,

(Shall I seek a judge other than Allah…) between you and I,

(while it is He Who has sent down unto you the Book, explained…) in detail,

(and those unto whom We gave the Scripture) the Jews and the Christians,

(know that it is revealed from your Lord in truth.) because the previous Prophets have conveyed the good news of you coming to them. Allah’s statement,

(So be not you of those who doubt.) is similar to His other statement,

(So if you are in doubt concerning that which We have revealed unto you, then ask those who are reading the Book before you. Verily, the truth has come to you from your Lord. So be not of those who doubt (it).) ﴿10:94﴾ The conditional `if’ in this Ayah does not mean that `doubt’ will ever occur to the Prophet . Allah said,

(And the Word of your Lord has been fulfilled in truth and in justice.) Qatadah commented, “In truth concerning what He stated and in justice concerning what He decided.” Surely, whatever Allah says is the truth and He is Most Just in what He commands. All of Allah’s statements are true, there is no doubt or cause for speculation about this fact, and all His commandments are pure justice, besides which there is no justice. All that He forbade is evil, for He only forbids what brings about evil consequences. Allah said in another Ayah,

(He commands them with good; and forbids them from evil…) ﴿7:157﴾ until the end of the Ayah.

(None can change His Words.) meaning, none can avert Allah’s judgment whether in this life or the Hereafter,

(And He is the All-Hearer,) Hearing, His servants’ statements,

(The All-Knower.) of their activities and lack of activity, Who awards each according to their deeds.

(6:114) Shall I look upon anyone apart from Allah for judgement when it is He Who has revealed to you the Book in detail?[81] And those whom We gave the Book (before you) know that this (Book) has been revealed in truth by your Lord. Do not, then, be among the doubters.[82]

81. The implied speaker in this sentence is the Prophet (peace be on him) and the words are addressed to the Muslims. The purpose of the sentence is to impress upon the Muslims that God has elucidated the relevant truths, and has also proclaimed that in their endeavour to make the Truth prevail they will have to follow the path of striving and struggle. The devotees of the Truth should, therefore, resort to those means which human beings normally employ for the successful achievement of their objectives rather than wait for any supernatural intervention that would enable them to achieve their mission without struggle and sacrifice. Moreover, since God Himself had chosen that human effort rather than supernatural intervention should lead to the prevalence of the Truth, who had the power to change this basic fact and bring about the victory of the Truth without any resort to human effort and sacrifice.

82. This is no mere concoction designed to explain away the current problems. All those versed in the Scriptures, and possessing true understanding of the mission of the Prophets (peace be on them all), will confirm that everything in the Qur’an is perfectly true and in fact constitutes that eternal truth which cannot suffer any change or modification.
