Transliteration:( Qad khasiral lazeena qatalooo awlaadahum safaham bighairi 'ilminw wa harramoo maa razaqahumul laahuf tiraaa'an 'alal laah; qad dalloo wa maa kaanoo muhtadeen )
“Indeed, those who kill their offspring [310], by their foolishness and ignorance [311], are ruined [312], and make unlawful what Allah has provided for them, forging a lie against Allah [313]. Indeed, they have strayed and have not adopted the correct way [314].”
This verse refers to tribes like Rabeeah and Muzir, who preserved sons and killed daughters, while others even killed sons. These acts of infanticide were widespread and are described as a path to ruin in both worlds. How tragic that animals were protected, yet their own children were mercilessly killed.
Once life is breathed into the fetus, aborting it is equal to killing a child. Before this stage, abortion is permitted only out of necessity, according to juristic opinion (Mukhtar view in Raddul Muhtar).
Allah created all things as sustenance for humanity, and the default ruling is permissibility. What Allah has declared unlawful is forbidden, and what He left undefined is lawful, as in: “He created for you all that is in the earth” [2:29].
To label crops or animals dedicated to idols as forbidden is a slander against Allah, because they remain lawful unless explicitly prohibited by Him.
Those who view sins as divinely approved and treat idolatry as success are too far from guidance. True guidance comes from fearing Allah, not justifying evil under false beliefs.
140. Indeed lost are they who have killed their children, foolishly, without knowledge, and (they) have forbidden that which Allah has provided for them, inventing a lie against Allah. They have indeed gone astray and were not guided.
As for this life, they lost when they killed their children and made it difficult for themselves by prohibiting some types of their wealth, as an act of innovation that they invented on their own. As for the Hereafter, they will end up in the worst dwellings, b
(Say: “Verily, those who invent a lie against Allah will never be successful.” (A brief) enjoyment in this world! And then unto Us will be their return, then We shall make them taste the severest torment because they used to disbelieve.) ﴿10:69-70﴾ Al-Hafiz Abu Bakr bin Marduwyah recorded that Ibn `Abbas commented, “If it pleases you to know how ignorant the Arabs used to be, then recite the Ayat beyond Ayah one hundred and thirty in Surat Al-An`am,
(Indeed lost are they who have killed their children, foolishly, without knowledge, and ﴿they﴾ have forbidden that which Allah has provided for them, inventing a lie against Allah. They have indeed gone astray and were not guided.)” Al-Bukhari also recorded this in the section of his Sahih on the virtues of the Quraysh.
(6:140) Those who slayed their children in folly, without knowledge,.and forbade the sustenance that Allah has provided them, falsely ascribing that to Allah, are utter losers; they have gone astray, and are certainly not among those guided to the right way.[115]
115. It is put to them plainly that even though such practices had been introduced by their forefathers, religious guides and outstanding leaders, the fact remained that those practices were inherently unsound. That those practices had come down from their ancestors and venerated elders did not necessarily legitimize them. These callous people had introduced such inhuman customs as infanticide, and, without any justification whatsoever, had prohibited to the creatures of God food and drink which He had created. They had also introduced many innovations themselves, making them part of their religion and ascribing them to God. How could such people be considered either to have attained salvation or to be rightlyguided? Even though venerated by them as their ancestors, they were nevertheless misguided and were destined to see the evil consequences of their misdeeds.
