    ٱلَّذِينَ ءَاتَيۡنَٰهُمُ ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ يَعۡرِفُونَهُۥ كَمَا يَعۡرِفُونَ أَبۡنَآءَهُمُۘ ٱلَّذِينَ خَسِرُوٓاْ أَنفُسَهُمۡ فَهُمۡ لَا يُؤۡمِنُونَ

    Transliteration:( Allazeena aatainaa humul Kitaaba ya'rifoonahoo kamaa ya'rifoona abnaaa'ahum; allazeena khasirooo anfusahum fahum laa yu'minoon )

    20. Those to whom We gave the Book recognize this Prophet as they recognize their sons [41]. Yet, those who put their souls in loss [42] would not believe. (Kanzul Imaan Translation)

    (20) Those to whom We have given the Scripture recognize it[299] as they recognize their [own] sons. Those who will lose themselves [in the Hereafter] do not believe. (Saheen International Translation)

    📖 Commentary of Surah Al-An’aam – Verse 20

    "Those to whom We gave the Book recognize this Prophet as they recognize their sons [41]. Yet, those who put their souls in loss [42] would not believe."

    ✅ Recognition as Clear as a Father’s Knowledge [41]

    Just as a father recognizes his son even before external proof, the People of the Book recognize the Holy Prophet ﷺ with similar certainty. Although a father’s recognition develops through hearsay and upbringing, these people possess scriptural knowledge pointing unmistakably to the Prophet ﷺ. Yet, this recognition alone is not faith—true belief lies in acceptance and declaration. This comparison shows the depth of their awareness and the magnitude of their denial.

    ✅ Envy-Driven Rejection and Spiritual Ruin [42]

    These individuals deliberately reject faith, not from ignorance, but from envy and pride. Their souls are ruined, and they are destined to die in disbelief unless they repent. Like Satan, whose downfall was due to jealousy, these people emulate his path by harboring envy towards Prophets, saints, or the noble Companions of the Prophet ﷺ. Envy blinds the heart and leads to persistent rejection of truth.

    (6:20) Those whom We have given the Book will recognize this just as they recognize their own ofspring;[14] but those who have courted their own ruin will not believe.

    14. Those who have knowledge of the Scriptures know for sure that God is One alone and that no one shares His godhead with Him. It is true that one can spot one’s own child even in the midst of a large crowd of children. The same can be said about those well-versed in the Scriptures. Even if the true concept of godhead were interspersed among numerous false beliefs and concepts about God, those well-versed in the scriptural lore would be able to recognize without doubt which doctrine was true.

    (20) Those to whom We have given the Scripture recognize it[299] as they recognize their [own] sons. Those who will lose themselves [in the Hereafter] do not believe.

    [299]- The Qur’ān. Also interpreted as "him," meaning Muḥammad (ﷺ).
