Transliteration:( Qul innee nuheetu an a'budal lazeena tad'oona min doonil laah; qul laaa attabi'u ahwaaa'akum qad dalaltu izanw wa maaa ana minal muhtadeen )
"Please declare (O Beloved Prophet): 'I have been forbidden [113] to worship those whom you call upon besides Allah.' Please declare: 'I will not follow your vain desires [114]. If I did, I would go astray and would not be among the guided ones.'"
Before the revelation of the Qur’an, Allah had already prohibited the Holy Prophet ﷺ from idolatry through his natural purity and divine protection. After revelation, this prohibition was confirmed through clear religious command. The Prophet ﷺ never committed any act of shirk, sin, or impurity—he never ate meat sacrificed to idols or participated in idolatrous practices. His worship, piety, and submission were innate, not merely a result of the Qur’an. He is often described as a “walking Qur’an”, representing purity from birth.
This verse affirms that the Prophet ﷺ was protected not only after Prophethood, but even before it. He states that Allah always protected him from error, misguidance, and false beliefs. Hence, the rejection of idolatry and deviation is not a new claim, but a consistent reality throughout his life—he never followed the vain desires of the disbelievers at any point.
