📖 Commentary of Surah Al-An’aam – Verse 162

"Please declare: 'Surely, my prayer and my sacrifice [386], and my living and my dying are all for Allah, Who is the Lord of all the worlds.'"
(Kanzul Imaan Translation)

✅ [386] Prioritization of Worship – Physical over Monetary

This verse emphasizes that acts of devotion like Salah (prayer) take precedence over even significant monetary worships such as sacrifice (Qurbani). Hence, Salah is mentioned before sacrifice, indicating that spiritual submission and discipline hold the highest rank in Allah's sight. It reflects that pure worship begins from the heart and manifests through both body and wealth.

✅ [387] A Life and Death Dedicated to Allah

This part of the verse illustrates that the entire existence of the Prophet ﷺ—his living and his dying—is solely for the sake of Allah. His life was not lived in worldly distraction, but was completely immersed in remembrance, service, and propagation of Allah’s command. Even death, in his case, is a continuation of his submission, highlighting that true believers live and die in Allah’s cause, never deviating from that path.

Key Points Derived:

  1. Revealing one’s sincerity and purity in intention, especially as a Prophet, is not hypocrisy, but a righteous declaration of one’s complete submission to Allah.

  2. This verse confirms the Prophet’s ﷺ knowledge of the unseen—particularly about life, death, and his destined outcome, which is one of the five forms of 'Ilm al-Ghayb (knowledge of the unseen) granted to him by Allah.
